Hi folks
Mentioned this biannual festival of all things American, (Okay, mainly cars) that happens here in Taranaki. I posted some photos on my FB page which I know Jeff has seen, but I thought I'd try and select just six that encapsulate the atmosphere from two fairly hectic days.
Today I'm not venturing-out, real life and chores are demanding my attention, tomorrow is the 'Americarnival' - not certain what to expect as it's not happened before but from what I can make out, New Plymouth turns in to the 51st State for the day !!
Anyhoo's here's six photos from the last two days:

On their way to Whangamamonama approximately 130 of the 600 cars cruised through Egmont Village on Wednesday morning. We heard not all of them made it; the road out there is pretty punishing. Both the 59 Pick-up and the Camaro did make it back.

Yesterday lunchtime over 300 cars headed for Waitara, just four miles from our little village. My buddy Don, reckons my recent obsession with old Pick-up's is a direct result of moving out to the country... he may be right, but this F150 looked like it had just rolled out of the dealership in 1975, talk about original. The beautiful 57 convertible was waiting for the marshals to find a park-space. Very friendly and approachable owners, had a long chat with them later in the afternoon.

Inglewood cruise yesterday evening. In the twilight this already (very) orange RT Challenger just glowed. And that 49 Mercury Lead Sled... how can you say no to Lake Pipes, a Buick grill and old school winding flames - straight out of an early seventies Hot Rod magazine shoot !!
Have to say I love these last two shots, the light here in NZ really does make this sort of photography an absolute joy.
Thanks for taking the time to look.
