Airfix Spitfire OOB

Hi Bob, I think this one is a good color reference for your build.

You could do a lighter dot filter on the colors to fade them a little, plus the markings and it would look just like the ref picture that Chris posted. (y)

Bob, I'm not sure of the actual markings. This picture is supposed to be post Battle of Britain and the RAF. went through a lot of minor changes in the early years.

This was only meant to represent the brown and green colors.

Cheers, Christian B)

I'm with ya Chris, not looking at that bird as a BoB vet, just in general how the lighter markings make the camo look lighter. I think the colors are right.

another one. These colours are pretty well spot on IMHO. Period pictures note aluminium finish ammo boxes

This is a modern RAF Spitfire which one assumes they got the colours right on.

Thanks Paddy, looks like i'm going to have to buy another kit for the decals. Can't find them anywhere and aftermarket seems to focus after BoB.

Looks great Bob. I just bought a 1/48 Mk II last week. After I finish the 109 I'll do the Spit and maybe put the two together in a diorama.

After market decals often cost more than another kit these days !!

I was at Hobby Lobby today, Revell MkII in stock for $15.00. Print out a coupon and I get %40.00 off that. Might be my best bet.

Does it supply two sets of markings?

I don't have any 48th scale Spitfires left... perhaps some 72nd scale bomber roundels will work?

Regards,

Found a 1:48 Spitfire on the self at HL here in town. got it for $14.00. figure if I get aftermarket decals it would cost me that much even before shipping.

So she's up on her legs!

And I still need "Sky" :bang head

Bob. Looking at the FS. colors it looks like Tamiya XF-14 could be spot on. Of course everyone does not agree on what color Sky is....But that's one possibility.

Cheers, Christian B)

Scored Sky on our shippin' til' ya droppin' day today.

Allow me to apologize to any Douglas Bader fans out there. I really didn't realize the Revelle kit was of his BoB aircraft. I have no doubt I have butchered any historical accuracies on this kit because the black and white underside.

But I did get the RAF Sky and the decals are on. Pictures tomorrow :pilot

Yep that's the one. Don't know why this has been the trend lately but I've been having to buy two kits to complete one... :idonno
