After a long hiatus - back with a Lancaster Mk.III 1/72

Hello dear friends,

I hope you are all well!

It's been a while since I've been on the forum. A lot has changed, not always for the better: I got a new job, moved, lost my position which was made redundant, moved again, and am now searching for a new job. The last two years have been challenging, to say the least. But all is well. I have quite a few interviews lined up, and perhaps my time in Germany is coming to an end after 25 years. I'll keep you posted.

In any case, I needed to do some modeling to take my mind off all these problems. In the pictures, you can see the beginning of a project involving a Revell 1/72 Avro Lancaster B.Mk.III with PE extras, including flaps, bomb bay, interior, and exterior, as well as the RAF Bomber Set from Airfix. Decals from Xtra-Decal of an Aircraft of the 100. Squadron RAF (PB518 - HW-P) flown by P/O Paul Bunn in 1945.

These are the initial pictures of the cockpit. Comments are always more than welcome. Thanks for watching.

All the best,

Alex

Hi guys! Thank you so much! It's great to be with friends again. I missed all of you!

Yes, it has been very tough. I moved the whole family because of the new job, my son started a new school, and I had to rent a house and pay the mortgage on the other one. Then, out of the blue, after a year, the CEO of the hospital came to me and told me that they would restructure the clinic and that my job was being made redundant. Sorry—not sorry. Have a good life. :bash::bash::vmad::smack:

Now, I'm applying for new jobs and considering leaving Germany. I've had enough of these situations. (I don't want to offend any Germans, but you get my meaning.) I have an interview lined up at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (one of the biggest and busiest in Europe) at the end of the month. I also applied for a job in Birmingham. Wish me luck!

The Lanc isn't going to have any smoke, but apart from tons of PE, I'll also have one Merlin engine on display and the other removed, with only the wiring and support in the nacelle. It should be a challenge!

I wanted to post a few more pictures, but the files are too big and aren't accepted. I'll look into saving the files in a smaller size. In the meantime, thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate your support.

All the best!

Alex

YEah sorry about the file size limit Doc. Diskspace was past critical and I had to move to a new hosting solution. New host is great, we have unlimited disk space but he's limiting what can be uploaded. Just compress and reduce down to about 250k size I think. I can confirm but that's the target I hit.
Good luck on the interviews!

Thanks Bob.

Do you have any ideas on how to compress these JPEGs? I can transplant a liver in a baby without breaking a sweat, but some IT things are quite a mystery to me.

Thanks again!

My favorite trick is using Irfanview image viewer. All I do is open the image then Save it with higher compression and it reduces the size. I'll see if I can get some screen shots.
