Ok so Eric Rains & I answered MP’s call to arms, as he needed a lean-to added to the man cave.

In the pics you can see who the retired Sargeant is, though you can also see he puts in the work too

It has a bit to go, but the client (Bob) walked away satisfied. It was a fun day, but wow do I need some ibuprofen!

@errains it would appear that we didn't keep @iambrb busy enough. What did I tell him about those candid photos! At least they are not as bad as the one you took last year.
Thanks again both of you, couldn't have gotten it built without y'all.
I got a bigger overall photo and it does look pretty square and stable. There were questions regarding the stability as it was going up.

Already shopping roofing material. The free stuff didn't pan out. Roof goes up, then then compressor goes out and gets online.

BTW I told you last night to get loaded up on arthritis meds, the only thing that doesn't hurt me is my knee and I had my brace on.

Looks like fun... nope!!!

Not to be nit picky but a couple diagonal knee braces between the two end posts and the beam would help with the rigidity.

I'm sure you're right, the knee brace on my left leg sure did help me... :rotf

I got some spare wood, 2x4 would be all it needs right? I have NEVER claimed to be a carpenter.

Haha! yes a 2x4 would be sufficient

I'm also jealous of your green grass. Got s foot of the white stuff on my lawn at the moment.

If the roof is plywood you may not need knee braces. I would be concerned about the posts being that close to the concrete and surrounding grade. Better to have a metal bracket there that holds the posts up an inch or so.

Hard to see in these photos but there are metal footings for the post. Bruce and I had fun time with the hammer drill going through that concrete.

It's more weeds than grass :rotf

Boy did we ever! The "Sergeant" was careful to make his appearance after we got that part dowm, just sayin'.....

LOL! I'm so sad to have missed all this awesome fun! That's what I get for being exiled to the Demokratic People's Republik of Kalifornia....

Ok, who is who in the photos? Hope the storm we had last night didn't blow it down. Gary S. LGB XLV MMXXIV
OK so in this photo you got from left to rt. @iambrb aka Bruce, Me, and @errains aka Eric the Sgt.

I went to check on it this afternoon after some of the thunderboomers went over and it's solid as a rock. Been pricing options and I'm sticking to the original plans of steel roof panels. Figured I'd be done and over with it doing it that way.

Nice! Are you gonna cover the steel roof? If not I'd recommend galvanized steel as it resists rust for far longer. That is something to consider seeing as how you have so much weather out there.

I think bob-ster originally had some other material lined up, but it may not have worked out. I would also have thought the way to go is galvanized or that plastic corrugated sheeting

Galvanized for sure. Yeah my bro-in-law told me he had scrap left over from his roof that I could have but when I told him the size it was game over. I'm pricing out new now, it's going to cost as much as the wood did but going with steel I'll be done with it, not have to worry about it down the road. Just can't find 10 foot long, I find 8 and 12 and I really don't want to buy 12 and cut off 2 feet.

Maybe you could allow them to overhang one foot on each side for some small added side protection from the rain. hat way you don't need to cut them and you have that much more shade.

Just a crazy thought that helps save you from cutting them.
