A-4 Skyhawk Vietnam loadouts

Really no such thing as typical loadout, all depends on the mission and how far inland it was.

Nice reference. The 3 dots for the M117 would be a TER, the 6 dots for the MK82 would be a MER.

BTW, I do not believe it would get off the ground with 5 MERs fully loaded, even with a catapult.

And according to this http://www.historynet.com/douglas-a-4-skyhawks-provided-support-for-vietnam-war.htm it could take in 8000 pounds of ordinance. Of course as Bob pointed out it depends on distance, target, and mark of a/c it was.

By the time they are sending pilots on one way suicide missions with a single nuke, crap has already hit the fan I'm guessing. Interestingly, exactly what the F-105 was originally designed for. Also scary. And insane.

Hey guys, I am going to revisit this topic and ask, did the version of the skyhawk with 5 hardpoints serve in Vietnam? Is it accurate to say tha the A-B carried 5 hardpoints...or just three?

The RCAF CF-104's were acquired for the nuclear tactical strike and reconnaissance role in NATO. Their targets would have been supply depots, airfields and major bridges. They used "over-the-shoulder" toss bombing for free fall weapons and high speed, low altitude delivery for parachute retarded weapons.
