88mm FLAK 37 mit Behelfslafette

I'm looking for that shield now- Aber has everything (3.7 mm ect) including barrels, but none for that sheild set for the 88 Flak 37- do you still have that Aber model #? Thanks CR

I used this one :

go to Aber and the type 'Flak 36' in the search box. It should give item 35184 as a result. That's where you can get the shield.

I have the same kit- have yet to begin but I really like the hydraulic tubing and that shield on yours. Hopefully mine will turn out nearly this clean.

The hydraulic tubing is made by using the smallest type of soldering wire i could get. I think it has the right look for those tubes.

Thank you for your kind words !

Thanks for getting me straight on that shield Frank!

Dear Frank.

...top job...super clean assembly...cool painting job, very subtle...and the groundwork looks astonishing!

My congratulations!

Hi all.

Today a little update on the weathering of my Flak. Still a lot of work to do but as you may have noticed, I'm not the

fastest modeler on the planet ! :S

I'm not a fan of 'the scrapyard' look so I try to keep my weathering subtle and try to alter it depending on the use of the part of

the equipment. The lafette is subject to wear and tear; it's close to the ground and the gun operators will trot on it.

FLAK-PAINT0001.jpg

So I tried to give a worn out look to the paint; some mud splashes and scratches and dirt accumulating in the recesses.

On the other hand the gun shield is likely to be relatively clean, no one will walk on that. The shield protects the crew so there

will be some shrapnel marks damaging the paint. Some more wear is likely to be expected on the moving parts.

Rain streaks on the upper part and a little rust at the bottom where the rain accumulates. The lower part of the outer corners

and edges are subject to paint wear because they can be damaged by the crew.

FLAK-PAINT0003.jpg

The inner part of the shield is an other story. Because it doesn't catch as much light I spray painted it in a different hue,

it looks a bit "warmer". Same here; more likely to wear because of the gun operators moving about or using the handles.

Still a bit of work.

FLAK-PAINT0004.jpg

The HJ Division hand painted names on their equimpent. So I named the gun "Caesar" spelled "Cäsar" in German.

It is actually the name of the last gun standing in front of Cussy defending the "Abbaye d'Ardenne".

So here's "Caesar", no weathering yet.

I hope I didn't bore you too much with all my theories !!!

Greetings

WOW beautifully weathered. I really like the lite fading and the very well done weathering you did. Fantastic stuff (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

Me too!
The more i see of this build, the more convinced i become that I cannot paint mine in a natural metal theme without it looking like it came from a Hasbro box- Very nice and conservative weathering.

Bore me? No way!!! I love hearing the thought that goes into your finish and it all makes sense.

Great work Frank!!

Hi Gents,

Some workbench pictures of the progress on the Flak - weathering to prove to you that I'm not hibernating !!!

Hope you like them.

Breech before weathering

I wanted to try something else by giving it local washing with Prussian bleu

In the next pictures the weathering is complete except for the breech and gun tube.

I used Van Dyck Brown and Payne's Grey to add the shadows.
