Up next on the work bench is the USS John Hancock. Why the John Hancock? Because of this...

Just starting on it. It is a very old Arii kit that was was in a box of very old kits. It will be a fun kit to do. She'll be waterline and underway when I finish her.

I saw this somewhere else, what is that (to state the obvious) circled in red.

"Old Salts". Better!
Hatches for deploying the old AN/SLQ-25A Nixie torpedo decoy? (I did look it up.)
I wouldn't think the towed passive sonar array would need 2 hatches.
Chime in here anytime Gator.

Today's work on the Hancock. I got the decals artwork done. What you see in black, with the exception of the ship's name, will be white. After mulling over the warning rings colors, I am going to print those without the white. I would have to print them separately and, in 1/700, lining them up be impossible. The hull numbers are going to be touchy as it is.

Thanks to a friend who served on a Spruance class destroyer, I can eliminate the Phalanx CIWS weapons. This class didn’t have them. Looking forward to getting back on this kit this weekend.

Weekend update. Started the painting process. After I found the Model Master Acrylic equivalent to modern haze gray, I got it shot on the model. Came out great. Started painting the decks with the recommended Vallejo color for the decks, way to dark and my brush painting skills need a refresher course. I’ll strip it down with some 91% alcohol and start from scratch.
