1/48th completely photo-etched airplane kits.

Wow! Those look fantastic! Too bad they never made it to market, those would make truly awesome modeling projects!

Now that's a kit and a half :D

Can you imagine one of them talent shows - So you think You can Model (or variation of the similar singing dancing talent shows) where contestants are given one of these to put together and then be judged ?

I'd watch THAT sort of a show

Thanks for the photos Bob, also may I say you got a nice collection of VHS tapes there :notworthy

Amazing stuff Bob, thanks for putting these up.

Are there any instructions?

Tom

Yeah, I can't remember how old John was, but despite creating all those incredibly fine masters and patterns, he had palsy in his hands. He wrote out the instructions in long hand and they are barely readable. They could be read and typed out as we did so with many of the product masters we bought from him. However, it wasn't a lot of fun and the guy that did it always groaned whenever we received a package from John.

I have been into movies all my life. I have a collection of nearly 7000 movies. Most are DVDs and Blu-Ray, but many have never been released except on VHS. As I replace my old VHS tapes, instead of pitching them, I put them in my two modeling areas and listen to them as I model. Those you saw were a part of one collection in my workshop in the museum.

Funny you should write this! As I replace my VHS and sVHS cassettes, I simply record music I like over them! The Super VHS (sVHS) VCR was a match for my Nakamichi Dragon audio cassettes player. Since my Dragon was slaughtered (I got rid of it and my Nakamichi System One), my cassettes (recorded on metal) are now dubbed onto the sVHS tapes. 8 hours each of music, no commercials, interruptions, subscriptions, and the VCR can fast forward or rewind to the index marks between each song (even if there is a fade).

Bob, I know you are (or were) an audiophile... what do you use in the workshop? I won't ask what you listen to since I have my preconceptions which you will destroy if you mention show tunes!

Regards,

Saul, I love music of many kinds. I guess the only music I don't listen to is country/western. My apologies to all those fans. When I model, I like to listen to war movies, Patton, A Bridge too Far, Night of the Generals, The Longest Day, The Big Red One, Saving Private Ryan, The Battle of Britain, etc., etc., etc. I can't even remember when I started doing that, just did. I never watch, just listen. It puts me in the mood.

Wow! I thought I was the only one to do that. I tend to listen to music/movies that match the kind of model I am building.

Wow, very cool!

I think I'd give one of those a try! I've seen some of the recently released PE kits, and have thought about trying to pick one up. I really liked the look of the Horton 229 kit that was released in the last couple of years.

Simply stunning! I'd love to see one of each of these built up on my desk, but I know there is no way I could do it- too fiddly for my shaky hands.
