    Tamiya 38cm Assault Mortar Sturmtiger

Sooomewhere, I have the same kit with Verlinden Zimm applied, and yes, there are major gaps. Tom

    Academy 1/35 Tiger-I early version...

BTW, when painting black uniforms, adding a bit of "flesh" color to the black is an easy way to soften it, and make it not look so black. Then you can use pure black for shadows. Tom

    Academy 1/35 Tiger-I early version...

Blue...??? I think you would be safe following the colors on the box art. The pea dot pattern wasn't issued until 1944, so you won't have to be bothered with trying to do that. Tom

    Small but Deadly

Nice looking build so far! What are you using as a thinner for the oil wash? Tom

    AK Chipping Fluid, test #1

Do you have an airbrush? Try thinning the Tamiya with water for your topcoat. I'm still working on this technique myself, using hairspray. Tom

What do y'all make of this? Paint problem...

I daresay you might try a different brand of paint. Even the cheap acrylic craft paint they sell at Wal-Mart would perform better than this. Tom

Sayonara, Building a 1/35th Japanese Garden.

Sayonara finished/Delivered Dec. 12th, 2013 Looks perfect Bob! I try to always keep things like that in mind: Water is not always blue. Wood is not always brown. Grass is not always green. Metal is not always silver. Tires are not always black. etc, etc... Tom

    Vector Cowl for Tamiya Corsair

Hi Guys Need a little help. If I"m not mistaken, a couple of you have used this update cowl from Vector. What is the best way to remove the pour plug from this thing? Thanks for any advice! Tom

    Sd.Kfz. 253 le Beob.Pz.Wg.

Looks great Ron! Gouache works really well for this sort of thing. I like to use it for chipping too. Gouache dries quickly, but never really cures. It can be reactivated with water, but is impervious to enamel thinner, mineral spirit, turpentine, etc... Tom

    Iwata HP-TH review

Great review Ausf! I'm sold, though I don't think I need one at the moment. I understand you got this for priming larger models, I'm curious how it does for getting in those nooks and crannies of smaller stuff. Tom

All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

We've had a pretty mild summer so far (knock on wood), but I remember one year it was 106 deg with 99% humidity...I checked the weather online, it said "RealFeel" was 150 degrees!!! Tom

OK IT'S TIME TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Ok, so pick a kit and start a thread, but don't start the kit? I'm confused, when does building start? Tom

    Modeling for Competition

Your first topic "Know the Rules" is very important. I got docked two points for not following the rules, otherwise I would have gotten a perfect score. I'm not so good at following rules but hey, sometimes you just have to.... :bgrin Another thing I have found interesting is that the last...
