    First Figure

This is the first figure I have completed. I have played with figures, but never completed one. This looks like a first figure, but for one thing. I got the face. The face is not bad. I have painted a 1/35 face and it's not to bad. Pop quiz. What college major has the highest drop out rate...

    AK 3G question

Very interesting. I thought Mr. leveling thinner just had retarder and flow release added. Since AK is acrylic, it should have worked. Did AK tweak their paints? On a side note, I have been adding flow release and retarded to Tamiya paints for years.

Tamiya Thin Cement has a WHAT??!!

Amazing amount of information. Thank all of you. The timing is amazing too. My wife and I are converting one of the rooms to a sewing and modelling room. I will be using a majority (if not all) of these suggestions.

Tamiya Thin Cement has a WHAT??!!

If I haven't broke any rules, lets keep going. I never heard of Scigrip. I looked them up and they are good. Is there an adhesive sticky I missed?

Tamiya Thin Cement has a WHAT??!!

A chemist by trade and modeler by hobby did an analysis of Tamiya paint, glue and thinner. I have forgotten where I got it or his name. I could only find his analysis of the thinner (back up Often) left. Here is what he says about thinner: Water 54.9175% Secondary Butanol 19.9700% Normal Propyl...

    Weathering of tank tracks

I really wasn't sure how to handle tracks. Thank you.

Tamiya Thin Cement has a WHAT??!!

Tamiya extra thin cement is 20% acetone, 40% butyl acetate , 40% methyl ethyl ketone(MEK). I knew about the cement brushes, but never had to use it. My bottle is always full. I did not mean to hijack your thread.

    Panzer I dak

It was the track pins that were breaking. If I ever have to do these kind of tracks again, I will replace the plastic pins with fine wire. That would have taken care of the tracks. I can only speak for this Tristar kit. I got track link on the bench right now. These have no pins so should be no...

    Panzer I dak

Tristar kit. The tracks were a pain. They broke apart hence the unrealistic sag. Maybe It's Tristar or maybe it's me.

    Panzer I dak

Here is my DAK Panzer I. You noticed I didn’t say finished. I may get back to it.This was a real learning experience. First hair spray technique and first track link. The hair spray technique is good for larger areas. I have more control using a sponge. The assembly of the tracks went quickly...

    Strange sdkfz 263

I want to thank everyone for the feed back. The history and feed back gives me a lot to go on. It appears the supports are hollow tubes with tent poles inside. Note the tent poles are present in the front, but not rear. I am going to assume the square antenna is from a command panzer III. A lot...

    Strange sdkfz 263

The sdkfz 263 was an eight wheeled german communication vehicle during WW II. Here is a picture of one. https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/germany/armored_vehicles/sdkfz_263/sdkfz-263-panzer-group-kleist/ This is a picture of this threads topic...

    "Dakota Warrior"

Amazing. The leggins and shield are a great job alone. The skin tone, everything is superb. As I take a look at this figure, more and more details pop out. I lost count of the number of times I said “oh wow”.

    Mohawk Militia

I’ve been thinking about your figure for three days and finally decided to post. Your color transitions are superb. I am making a sincere effort just to do 1/35 faces so I know what you have accomplished with this figure. Very good job.

    Looking for putty

I got the seams painted and saw no shrinkage. The two gaps were very small. One of the putties required several passes to paint. I did not write down which putty went with which gap. I will do a more structured review. It is going to be a while as I am working on a Tamiya kit now. I got a Dragon...

    Tamiya Fw190

Thank you very much. I was working on a dragon ju 88. Got pretty far with it and put on the shelf. Don't know if the parts are where they should be. Don't care if the panel lines line up. It's the wonderful world of dragon. Now working on a panzer I for the dak with doc. I will finish the ju 88...

    Russian Green WWII

I moved from California to Missouri (last one out of California please turn off the lights). I Packed the models in boxes with foam around the and they were pretty secure. Told the movers be careful with the boxes marked fragile. The crew changed in Texas. I don't where the destruction took...

    Russian Green WWII

No I can't. I lost all my models in a move across five states. Really heartbreaking. I did salvage somethings like tracks, cockpits, odds and ends, etc. I used Gunze acrylics until they stopped shipping their pants. Now all my colors are Tamiya mixes. I have finished two fw 190 planes and can...

    Looking for putty

Well I received both and have tried both. I think the perfect plastic putty is a little easier to sculpt into seams, but it is marginal. If my only choice was Vallejo I would not complain. They are both good and do what they say they will do.
