Italeri Manx Norton 1/9

I think this time they will be ok , i used Micro set.

Hopefully they will survive the gloss clear this time, i will give them a day or two first

As my build habit is to work it spurts and then let things set, I usually place the decals and wait several days doing something else. I also do that with the Alclad paints. The gloss black goes on then immediately a wet mist of Mr Gloss Thinner Retarder that allows the Gloss to smooth and level out. The trick there is to wet it enough to let the surface flow level, and to work along so it all blends smooth. It's actually quite easy with a little forethought. Then I cover it and let it set for a couple of days.

Agree Paul, thats why i am doing the tank now, i wanted to get the gloss coat on before i get on with other bits.
Its a funny little model, OTB everything is crooked or has a problem but they are mostly easy fixes but there is a lot of work for such a simple kit.

Yeah, you and I are both detail oriented and can't stand the off bits. It seems the best looking kits "always" need a fair amount of Tender Loving Care, but that is what we enjoy doing and sharing.

Your build is looking really good my friend. When you post about your problems it always makes me think and ponder more on my builds. Have a great day!

I like to post problems i come across as i think it makes the posts more interesting and promotes a response. In reality we all have the same problems with detail and decals and paint but we will gloss over that :) i was thinking the other day about Bobs emoji about a thread is worthless without pictures, its true but its also worthless with just pictures :)

Yes you are right about the photos. That is part of why I do text IN the photos. That way the text is part of it and if someone wants to save the photo for reference they also get the info. It helps for me to have a graphics program that I have created templates that can be used easily for posting. It makes the photos a consistent size, I keep the text a consistent size and it make it easy to follow. If someone needs more info all they need to do is ask and I can (usually) easily clarify it with a new photo or two.

Absolutely no idea how to do text in photos, i remember first seeing it with that graphic artist guy over your side of the pond who used to super detail his aircraft. I forget his name now but a huge shame he disapeared as he was truly inspirational, Chuck was it ?.

Yeah his name was ChukW. He did cartoon characters to explain his builds. I think he was an artist by trade. Moved from San Francisco up to the Seattle area, and got mad about someone that posted something online somewhere else and Bob wouldn't ban them as they didn't do anything wrong here. Chuck got mad and left. While we don't do politics here, he went way over past Fisher's fence and joined in with the angry unreasonable people and we lost him.
I tried to keep in touch and did so for a while but then he completely went AWOL. Very sad as he was quite talented. But if you are angry over odd crazy stuff I guess it is better to be gone.
I always liked the characters he did to explain his builds. Not my talent, but he inspired me to do the stuff that I do with my postings.
As to the program I use, it can do accurate vector drawings and can import photos. It also does text and all that good stuff. I was able to purchase a perpetual license just before Christmas for $200 as it was for sale at 50% off. The program is called Canvas X Draw and I have used it for over 20 years. It works quite well and is fairly intuitive to use.
I use it to do drafting for stuff to make accurate drawings, I use it to edit photos and keep learning new stuff to do with it even after all this time.

If you are interested, you can check it out here: Canvas X Draw
