Back Aft Models 1/700 USS Simon Lake AS-33 Submarine Tender model kit.

I received an email from my friend Carl. He will have nothing more to do with me because of his politics.
This model ship, such as it is, goes in tonight's burn trash. This thread is closed.
An email! Perhaps I was mistaken to have thought so highly of him.
 
I had my doubts about the guy when i saw his picture of ABSD-7 USS Los Alamos at Holy Loch, Scotland ?
That's not Scotland, for starters the suns out...

Tell him to get over it baby get over it :)

My Grampa taught me not to throw effort after foolishness. I know we don't "Politik" here. I won't go into detail.
I have said nothing in return.
You can piss down my neck and tell me it's holy water ONCE.
 
Just remember that "THEY" work off of emotion and the logic goes out the window with the bathwater, baby, and whatever else they get P.O.ed about. Sad part is they also believe folks when they tell them it's raining (under a cloudless blue sky) So sad there is such a disconnect.

You did well! Just walk away and block the connections.
 
If its any consolation Chris you do reach an age where you have seen it all before with politics and each generation has to experience the good and the bad. Trouble is by the time they do that and work it out...the next generation arrives :rotf.
They talk about politics being democratic and a unifier, in my experience its the exact opposite , usually it's pretty undemocratic and extremely divisive. More importantly for me is to look out the window and see if its sunny or raining, that has a much bigger effect on my day ahead :)

Lookee! The sun came up! My Sweetie is well and happy. Good, hot, coffee is on. The masks came for the Seahawk. I am grateful for how sweet our life is, and a few trusted friends. I don't mind the rain. "Into each Life, some rain must fall" John Wayne.

My friend Carl Musselman, proprietor of Back Aft Models in Millard Nebraska and esteemed model ship builder, was working to create a 1/700 diorama of the US Navy submarine servicing vessels at Holy Loch, Scotland. See pictured here, Carl's LPP hull and an awful white versatile plastic 3D print of USS Simon Lake.
His 1/700 waterline and full-hull floating drydock and US Navy Boomer kits are complete. The missing link was the sub tender. Carl got a solid start on AS-33 USS Simon Lake. He didn't complete the Master for medical reasons that are none of anyone else's business. A "Nun Ya". He was pretty close!

Carl asked me to complete Back Aft Model's 1/700 USS Simon Lake Master. How could I refuse such an honor? I needed to make more headway on TLAR's USCG Reliance class WMEC kits, but I am excited about assisting as my own project goes forward. Carl retired last year. He's on the "31-day weekend", so he wasn't in any rush, which fit my production schedule perfektly! He provided a USB drive with his plans and references on it too.

The 644-foot hull measures 11 inches plus a whisker. Exactly on the money! She's too long for my little pressure pot, but Carl's is twice the size of mine. My plan is to finish the hull Master and mold box, deliver it to Carl, where he will make the hull mold and castings in his big pressure vessel, and TLAR Models will make all the smaller molds and parts for the final kit.

New to the site. I would be interested in getting the files for the AS-33 SimonLake. My father served on it and we have a reunion every year that he helps head. At that reunion we have giveaway prizes which I've participated in making a few. This year he asked if I could do a model of the ship. I searched and found this post. Are the files available somewhere?
