Thanks, Gary! Progress is slow, just a couple of hours a night.
I've got three, yes three, driveshaft u-joint replacements to do, and I just finished with some brake calipers, so the saga continues. My bunker season has taken a hit this time, so I will keep the summer outside work to a minimum. Ya, right, until my lovely bride gets a hold of that ta-do list.

No, just a poor Trooper caught in a bad spot.
Looks like the summer workload has already crushed what was left of my bunker season, Gents. My motivation has flown the coup, for now. Updates when they are available. Thanks for watchin.

Working the Warriors
Well, I’ve got the bug, the bunker bug, so no time to waste. Heck, it’s only been a few months, right? The snow hasn’t flown yet and fire danger still abounds, even the other issues we’re dealing with, all still present. But, when the bunker bug hits, I do my best to listen, and I’m gonna enjoy every minute of it! Sweet, the Captain’s chair even feels great, Yehaaaaaa! There is one thing I had forgotten as I cranked up the bunker, and that is this, never watch a movie you “have not” seen before! Well,…… prep work ain’t so bad, but I never do this when the brushes are wet, that’s foolish.
Ok, taking from where we left off, I started working the warrior figures with clean-up and make ready for primer. Before I tackle any more of these guys, I will address each and every little bit of their dress, weapons, etc. Going back or remembering what was or was not done is a waste of time. Just do it right off the bat, no hassles later, regardless of the tedious tasks required for each one of these guys..
The feathers are proving a challenge and not much fun, but the rest is standard prep work. I’m taking a lot more time on the feathers than pretty much anything else, that’s just how it goes. As you can see, these kits go together decent enough and Testors white tube putty helps clean and smooth things out.
So, back to some feather work before working the next figure. Thanks for watchin.

Mating the Riders to the Big Dogs
Mating the metal figures to the Big Dogs hasn’t been too much of an issue other than the horse’s mane. When trying to make a reasonably good fit the arms need to be toyed with before securing, and metal is not as easy as working with resin or styrene. A small dab of silly putty would hold a resin figure good enough to figure out alignments, but not so with metal. I’m also pinning any arms when necessary so some day we won’t have any strange questions as to why it wasn’t done in the first place, HA!
I was impressed with both fittings, actually. The rider with the rifle under the horse’s neck took some leg tweaks, but not much at all. The other rider was very simple, plop in place, lol. I’m not an Andreas figure aficionado, but I do believe this is mostly expected from their productions. I could be wrong, share your experience if otherwise.
Right now, I’m working clean-up on all of the Chief’s gear and headdress. I’m still undecided on how I will approach the chest plates and other gear at brush time, paint some beforehand or slap it all on and take a chance on paint build-up. I’ll let ya know when we get there.

If that one shooting under the horses neck survived I'm sure Bill Cody put him to work years later. Been reading a bunch of non fiction westerns lately.

Ok, slight problems with the Chief's head dress. This is the only major issue so far on the build and it's a bit frustrating, pics to follow soon. As per Glenn's graciously supplied pics of a real war bonnet you will see the feathers follow rearward in a sweeping angle and arch to the rear. Well, not so with this "metal" set of feathers. They defy gravity and angle upward about 20-30 degrees contrary to the flow, like a bloody porcupine. I've got some research to do before I start cutting excesses feathers from the piece, but it's not going to be fun as each time you make a bend the metal weakens. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,............
It's not a showstopper, but another challenge to deal with. But we do like challenges, otherwise we'd be doing quilting or under water basket weaving, or something like that, right? I'll load up some pics and update as soon as I get this figured out.
