I'm still working on the custom paint job on the drop tanks. can't get the sweep right as you can tell. Or would the matching drop tanks be too much?

I notice some of the RCAF Hornets have a huge light on the portside of the nose. Why?Back when we had a colour bird everything was matchy matchy and it included a luggage pod.

It is a night identification light of 0.6 megacandela intensity mounted on the ammo loading door. It is used to visually identify aircraft on night intercepts. We had them on our CF101's and some of the ADF F-16's had them too. During the Gulf War our CF188's were tasked to get a visual ID of each aircraft returning to base at night to confirm there were no bad guys trying to sneak in with them.I notice some of the RCAF Hornets have a huge light on the portside of the nose.
