Second inspection last night, I like the coverage so I'll rip off the masking today. Fingers crossed.
Didn't follow standard technique of spraying white over the masking lines and it shows. Easy fix though. I'll get it touched up and figure out a seal coat. I forgot about the white stripe on the tail, will mask that off and fix. You see the drop tanks in the back? Maybe matching paint schemes on them? We'll see.
Hey I can still do Bare Metal Foil. I'm checking closely for any flaws, already got one gloss coat and it looks pretty good to me.
It's not 100% symmetrical but you'll never see that. I think the black pinstripes will be forgiving.

I'm still working on the custom paint job on the drop tanks. can't get the sweep right as you can tell. Or would the matching drop tanks be too much?

Paint the centerline 260 gallon tank white like the box art, and be Happy Guy. That being said, You seem to usually go the extra mile on your builds. (Even when I think you're silly!
)
Yeah I suppose so. I was just going to offer the matching luggage set the dealer use to be able to throw in on the deal. I think it was a Ford thing with their Fairlane back in the 50s?

I notice some of the RCAF Hornets have a huge light on the portside of the nose. Why?
I think it was intercepting role. They could light up the side of an aircraft they just pulled up next to who shouldn't be snooping around where they are snoopin at.

It is a night identification light of 0.6 megacandela intensity mounted on the ammo loading door. It is used to visually identify aircraft on night intercepts. We had them on our CF101's and some of the ADF F-16's had them too. During the Gulf War our CF188's were tasked to get a visual ID of each aircraft returning to base at night to confirm there were no bad guys trying to sneak in with them.
The light isn't always installed. If it is not installed there is a blanking panel that goes on the inside of the door that makes it look a light beige colour. In early days part of the TACTS system could be mounted there in place of the light.
At AETE, we had a modified blanking panel with the centre cutout to match the window diameter that would allow the techs to confirm indicator lights and switches on the instrument package that replaced the M61A1 gun system. As data recording moved from reel mag tape to cassette tape to solid state and required less obtrusive methods of obtaining the data we developed different packages that mounted on the door in place of the light. They could be configured for different uses and fitted to fleet aircraft for test programs or when the gun squadrons went off on various execrcises. With one of our door packages installed the window would look orange.
