'My' Jaguar * * D O N E * *

Many of you here will know that I spent a few years in the RAF back in the 1980's - for almost all of my time I was around the SEPECAT Jaguar - in my opinion one the very best attack & recon platforms of its' time and certainly one of the most photogenic.

I've built a number of Jag's over the years but all of them in 1:72, so time to change that. When we moved house two years ago, an Airfix 1:48 that I'd completely ignored suddenly surfaced and has been hanging around my bench ever since. SO....

Time to build one of 'My' Jag's to celebrate the Ten Year Anniversary and to remember some of the very best years of my life: 👌

As you can see the box is, 'well travelled', but the contents are all good. Extras for this one are the decals from the original 1992 release sent to me by a like-minded soul from one of the FB pages I follow. Also there's an Airwaves cockpit set, and Paragon flaps & slats - long since out of production - and a pair of their excellent MB9 seats.

Hoping to make a start later this week.

OK it's on the bench:

First thing to do was to separated the Sidewinder rails from the overwing fences. Airfix mold them in place, and my build won't be wearing them. Next I took a number of 'cutting tools' of various types and hacked & slashed my way through the molded on slats and flaps to make way for the Paragon resin replacements:

More to follow, stay tuned.

And save the rails for something else, never know, you might get inspired looking in the spares box like Warren did. 🍿

Not too much has happened.

Glued the cannon troughs, ECM bar and 'British' nose onto each fuselage half. Also built up the drop-tanks and (COLOSSAL) Marconi recce pod.

There are dimples in the plastic everywhere, and the fit is already terrible - time has not been kind to these molds, and they weren't too great when they were fresh in 1995 !

More very soon.

Working on the Airwaves etch set for the cockpit typical RAF (& French) cockpit layout, a little cluttered and like your Model T, available in any colour as long as it's black(ish).
