BV 138 Flying Clog

I mean't no disrespect. Your Br-20 is cool. I have a fondness for the Classics as well. This is an amazing build. Most certainly a likely contestant in the Chuck Sterns Award category.
Excellence in construction, scratch building, and finish of Classic Model kits. Here's what the 2015 Award look like!

Thanks T , Chris and Bob for looking in . :)

Yes Bob I have.... Doesn't look bad but strangely enough what appears to be green when I shot it actually turned gray when it cured . Not what I was looking for . :bang head

SOoooo I have not taken any pictures . I will just re-mask it and shoot it with a different green :fencing

Haven't had any free time since the unmasking . Hope to do it today/tomorrow :soldier

Cheers, Christian B)

Hi Chris . No disrespect taken. I have heard of the Chuck stern award . I would be humbled if I should ever receive it. :D

Not much you could say would offend me. That is reserved for the folks that only comment on their very own builds and no one else's. :(

Some day, I'll get to the DO 24 T . Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks Dave, Gator , Luiz and Bob for looking in on this.

As you can see, that green mysteriously turned gray but I'm masking it off to repaint it. :bang head
Meantime I have discovered that the right wing has split up front and I had to repair it.

Right now I'm letting the primmer dry. It will get painted in AM.

This maintenance stand also had to be beef up to support the plane properly :facepalm

Hope to post more tomorrow . Thanks for looking in. Cheers, Christian B)

Even in grey it looks sharp. Looking forward to more Chris. Hope the join stays joined for you.
James

Hi James . Some seaplanes were dark green and gray .

From the few real pictures I have found these looked two tone green, so here we are .

Whoever posted that color mix got something wrong . Anyhow, different color mix this time .

So this is where we are tonight. I wanted to shoot some future but the rt wing leading edge came apart again . Sure wish I had super glued it from the start :bang head .

Maybe tomorrow I can get more paint on it

Cheers, Christian B)

We have paint!!! :notworthy

What's with the wing Chris, what did you use to glue it?

To answer your question Bob....I built the wings early . Did not imagine how big and heavy this thing was going to be.
There is plenty of plastic surface to glue so I used Proweld which melts the plastic good and sets up quickly.

This kit requires a lot of wrestling around . Something is always around the corner or out of site , so it spends a lot of time with me holding the wing.

The interior of said wing is completely hollow . I should have added some plastic inside to keep it from flexing :bang head Ahhh , hind sight .

The last problem came up from merely peeling off the tape :vmad

Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks to Luiz, Ian , Dave , Bob and Gary for looking in . Encouragement is always appreciated :D

Cheers , Christian B)

Don't think it's possible , but it will be better once the final splinter and Future has been applied .

Cheers, Christian B)

Looking really smart Christian, (y)

You could paint that unpainted section bare metal silver - gives it character, just like a new replaced section on the wing

May have read this wrong but did you get paint lift?

I'll give you my method anyway, spray the whole model with Tamiya A/S 12 bare metal silver, then after using your Gunze acrylics if you handle the model alot during the rest of construction, and you inadvertently rub some paint off, you have a nice safety net under your main paint = instant paint wear.

The A/S 12 is a great base for acrylics, never had paint lift since using this.
