Had a PA that a Dak was flying in today. Its parked across from us on the ramp. It looks to me to be a BT-67. Cant get to it to check registration but it is from ALCI and looks like this.

ALCI as far as I have found is Antarctic Logistics Corporation International out of south Africa.

Really wish I had a photo pass.

I have read that the clipped tip of the tail is one way to ID a C-47 vers a DC3. The DC3s had pointed tails, the C-47s had the tail clipped to accommodate tow hook. So if that's true, this would originally be a C-47 airframe. (unless clippin tails are part of this conversion, is so i'll just go sit in the corner...)

James, that's what it looks like right now!!? What's all that white stuff, some weird pollen? :rotf

It's C-GEAJ. Douglas C/N 14675/26120, USAAF SN 43-48859. It first went to the French AF, then South Vietnam AF and then AMARC. Sold to US civil operator registered as N40386, converted to a BT-67 Firebomber. Acquired in 2004 by 6th SOS USAF as a C-47T. Exported to Canada in 2007. Landing accident with ACLI in Antartica in 2009. Recovered and repaired. Ken Borek out of Calgary is the current owner.

Cheers,
Rich
