My next two builds are...

Its been a while since I have done anything on these kits, blame Dracula for that! ;)

In these in-progress pics you can see most all the decals are on the 262's. Also there is the fuselage for another German twin, its the old Revell/Monogram Pro-Modeler 1/48 scale Me 410B kit...all the talk about the new Meng Me 410 kit got me interested in building a 410 and now is a good time as any to build one.

...and another kit that I will start as soon as my Dracula kit is finished is this little Mercedes Benz staff car.

Expect to see the finished staff car on some of my airfield pics later this year. (y)

Thanks Paul,

If you building one of the Pro-Modeler Me 410s like I am be careful of the canopy, after doing some dry fitting it looks like it might be a trouble spot. Mine is being built closed up and might make it easier but still the canopy design on this kit is NOT brilliant. :stinker

Well Les I was thinking of springing for the Meng kit when I can and after I get the Hawk Eye Jaguar

Bob,
The canopy is the weak spot on this kit (so far) and could very well have been designed by less talented people...it sure does not match the fit of the rest of this kit. :hmmm

Paul,
I was all for getting one of the Meng Me 410s until I had seen both the Meng and Pro-Modeler parts layed out over scale plans...the Pro-Modeler wins the comparison easily. I know there was one person on another forum that was freaked out
about the shape of the cockpit canopy of the Pro-Modeler kit, that canopy shape was not nearly as big a problem as the too short rear fuselage and funny looking fin and rudder on the Meng kit! :blink Maybe someday I will get one of the Meng kits but not before I build the Pro-Modeler Me 410s in my stash.

The camo on that 1099 is awesome Les! Wish I had done mine like that now. (y) (y)

I built the Fine Molds 1/72 410 a couple of years ago. That was a great kit!

Thanks Dave and Adam, much appreciated!

Earlier today I did a lot of test fitting of the canopy for the Pro-Modeler Me 410 and quickly found out this is going to be a problem. The two sides of the canopy in my kit are slightly different lengths, the left side being too short and I ended up adding a shim to the rear of the frame, it would have been easy to just sand the right side of the canopy down to match the left but if I would have done that there would have been a slight gap at the front. Another problem I discovered is the right side of the canopy is slightly bowed at the top which leaves a gap near where the antenna is mounted. What a shame, the problems with the canopy lets down the rest of the kit which is really nice and almost like a Tamiya kit with good detail and great fit of the parts.

Its been a few weeks since much of anything was done on these models and now that the Me 410 is done I have no reason to not get these two jets finished up.

I did more painting and weathering on them and also attached the landing gear legs and most of the small bits, here is what they look like at this stage. The next pics I post of these models should be after they are finished.

OK Les, I have run out of unused adjectives to describe your builds. So in light of that dilemma I will have to start over again. Awesome.

Those are really nice Les. So what is your opinion on the Vallejo Model Air line of RLM paint? I know you use enamel but thought you might have taken a look at them.

Ryan,
Sorry I don't have any experience with the Vallejo line of acrylic paints, where I live getting ANY type of modeling paints is tough to do but when I have the chance I want to check out the Vallejo line of paints.
