I had to prove to myself that this was possible, so i cut a frame and made some test forms

And cobbled a mock up, using my test pieces, i know it's in B/W I did this to take out some glare.

You guys will either see me triumph or fail here. either way I think it will be an interesting build. Be good. CR

For the naysayers that may have thought this was a joke because of the silly mock up^^^...

It IS possible! But I have all but exhausted my options here, so shopping is in order. mondays :fencing

LOL NO!!!! It's 7 3/4 inches long T! The real one was 2 foot 11. I think you would need to be committed to build this full scale.

Thanks Matt, I picked up some more cardboard tubes!

This thing,,, had to strip it to remove a bad coat of silver (I hate sanding silver, it turns into a fine powder on the paper) worked for the better though as i am still tweaking the rail and had to thicken the front for my scratch built 'cone' believe it or not, there are nearly 25 pieces on that cone at the barrel/ body joint! dammm, why do we do this!!? :vmad

I used single strand insulated wire wrapped around 5/32 tube to build the coils, the colored bands are 5/16 brass, though it sat for days paint moved and flaked during assembly so touching up is the word this week kids! lol Of course the handle's stem is to long- for painting- and the rail is hanging on by a thread- the wires to the left run through the back into the tri chamber and into the handle assembly, pull em out now and it all falls apart like a dropped puppet. Surprisingly alot of little things in something this small, but its coming along well! :fencing

Star Trek scratch- phaser rifle! fantastic error-

Except for a few pieces of trim, the body is DONE! here is the plastic frame, barrel is brass so its waiting for another color....

I primed it twice with MR Surfacer 500 then sprayed a light coat of Alclad II Transparent blue over that- then mixed some MM acrylic silver and sprayed this with the airbrush still dirty from the blue, then cleaned the brush and sprayed another bit of blue.

Alclad II (transparent blue) and MM acrylic silver DO mix! I'm giving this another thin coat of the silver later...

Went for something different because afterall, this represents a 23rd century beam weapon! it should look different. CR

THanks again fellas, I got the final paint coat on last night and did some detailing, now i realize 'Holy crap!' I'm almost done!?

Final product should be posted by Wed night, so hold your breath, lol CR
