Willie Nelson and Trigger Bust - Completed

JamesOLeary

Master at Arms
My wife is a big Willie Nelson fan, so when Custom Dioramics released this bust of Willie Nelson, I ordered it so I could paint it as a present to my wife. I started with the shirt and body. I then painted the base color for the head before attaching it to the rest of the bust. I have blocking in the highlights and shadows and need to blend them. I have placed some putty in the gaps in his braids which I need to prime and paint I also need to lighten his hair and beard as the contrast is too stark.

A week or so ago I had some time to put a bit of color in his hair (still need to finish the grey) and greyed out his beard. Still need to blend the skin tones, but at least it is one step closer to being done.

The photos look a little too bright from the light I was holding the bust under.

Thanks, Guys!

SdAufKla, I am using acrylics for my painting medium. Brands I am using on this figure are Reaper, Scale 75, and Vallejo.

Hopefully I will find some time to get more done on this bust soon. It is so close to being finished.

Cheers,
James

A few days ago I finally completed this bust. My wife really likes it, so even though I would have continued working on it a bit more to refine it a bit, she was getting impatient so we are calling it done. It was a nice bust to paint and the detail was nice.

Very nice job James!

I sold Custom Dioramics to MMD-Squadron back in 2006. Later they sold it to Hosea Rodriquez. I think he still owns it! I never imagined that company doing Willy Nelson! :oldguy:
