I've been watching IPS Bismarck & Hood documentary. I wanna know why it was HMS Hood was beloved, above all other Royal Navy vessels, so highly. Brittains to your posts!!

It's an iconic tragedy like the Alamo the Maine , Pearl harbor , Titanic , Lusitannia , [ squirreled the spelling on that ].
The Hood fits in with all those memorable events , new ship , some of the workers still on board , a proud build to match the Bismark ............... then wham a one in a million shot to the ammo .

Glenn, think you're getting Hood and Prince of Wales mixed up. Hood was an older.

But you're right about the memorable moments.

Simply,
Hood was widely regarded one of the finest-looking warships ever built.

She was also the largest warship afloat when she was commissioned and retained that distinction for the next 20 years.

Her size and powerful armament earned her the nickname of "Mighty Hood" and she came to symbolise the might of the British Empire itself.

Laid down: 1 September 1916

Launched: 22 August 1918

Commissioned: 15 May 1920

Vice Admiral, Sir Samuel Hood, HMS Hood's namesake, was a contemporary of Admiral Horatio Nelson's, and also lost an arm, in battle. I s'pose that might have something to do with it. I'd still like to hear more form our UK members about such a thing.
More INPUT!!
