What do you do when....

Here is an interesting question that I was asked...

What do you do when the display case, or the shelf, is full?

I haven't got there yet, but when I do, its out with the models I am less happy with and in with the new!

Interested to see what everyone else does...

Is this the downside to finishing stuff? :D

Most of mine are displayed in their natural state, on the bench still attached to the sprue.

Nope! Rarely do I throw out a model regardless of quality or age. My display case was starting to get a little crowded so some of them got moved to a shelf in my bedroom. Now I'm good for another couple of years. :drinks

That's good to know, remember our pal Paddy? Built these gorgeous builds and what did he do with them when done? The trash bin! :frantic :frantic

:smack

He said he got his entertainment out of them so why take up space. :idonno
To each is own I guess.

Still breaks my heart...

I know people that sell their kits on Ebay as fast as they build them . Give you more room and some funds to buy the next one. :idonno

I know others that have small buildings for their models ( Other than MP )

I have a small case right now that needs a bit of restoration, that being said I must finish a model worthy of a display case ... When that one gets full I have a case circa 1800's that also need some work, wood & brass with very thick glass ... That being said It will take a bit before the 1st one gets full ... :good:

My Friends, My little company builds models for Veterans. You will never know what true wealth is, unless u hand a Vet, a model of his Airplane, ship, vehicle, that you've slaved over for months, and maybe ran thru the show circuit, as a Gift, and then let him/her tell you the stories! It isn't measured in Dollars, but not all wealth is monetary.
This, right here is Mr. R.J. Lundgren, telling me sories about his USS England Cruise;

This one, is AOM2C Steve Davis, with his VA-65 Tigers A-6 Egg-truder;

I understand that you guys that build Wehrmacht Armor, or Japanese aircraft may have a tougher time than some. Give 'em to Veterans! It'll make your model-heart glow! I gave a USS Utah Sailor a 1/72 Hawk SBD-3, and he gave me a 40mm projectile from his stash! Lewis was thrilled!!

That's all I have to say about that.

Very interesting there Rhino! Bravo Zulu on doing so for our vets! :drinks :salute Question, when was Mr. Lundgren aboard the England? SHe sailed with the Rangersome during the 1965-66 tour to Vietnam. Infact, they left Pearl harbor together the end of DEC 1965

Very nice Rhino ... Guess I'm off to the VFW ... I'd join but I volunteered during Vietnam but never made it in country ... I've had plenty of friends who came back ( twisted mind ) ... & some that didn't ... Still it means lots to me for what you do ... I've told DS Vets that I was in during that war, & and thanked them for their service ... :woohoo: They never thanked me back ... I guess I understand, I was brought up knowing when 21, you had a obigation to your country ... So we served, America ... :soldier :pilot
We didn't know about PDS ... But still we suffred, not me so much as some of my boot camp buddies. Thanks for what you do ... Bud ... :soldier :pilot :captain Don't get me wrong every time I see a Vet that was in Namn, He gets a thank you from me ... And I'm just rattling but thanks to all Vets that served ... No matter where ... :salute :salute :salute

I have dumped some of my older stuff which doesn't look good to me anymore,but if I get to the point where I only have quality stuff,at least in my eyes,I think I will probably store and rotate some pieces.But as of now,I still have pleny of space.

Unfortunately, I have already run out of space. I always keep everything I build (unless I'm building a model for someone else) so I keep it in my Hobby Room. My shelves are already quite packed so I've been stacking models on top of each other. I still have a little room left on the ceiling for a few more large aircraft, but that is rapidly filling up too. Some models, like my Dora rail gun and my Panzerzug BP-44 armored train remain in their boxes since I have no place to display them. Otherwise, I find a spot wherever I can.

When I was a youngster, I would take the old, funky ones, you know the derelics glue bombed ones out in the back yard& shoot 'em with my BB gun and/or, pack 'em with firecrackers :evil: :eek:hyeah :pilot

That was last month then because we know all modelers refuse to grow up in some ways :D
