Website Migration underway

Hang on to something, may get bumpy around here.

The time has come, can't put it off anymore. We're in the process of updating the software that runs our website. Long story short we basically have to rebuild the site from scratch.

The New site will look somewhat different, you'll get use to it. Nothing really will change much here on the forum. Hopefully that pesky problem with IE not resizing images will be fixed as well as other little issues.

Preliminary testing looks good. All user accounts are migrating fine, passwords still work and your Avatars are moving also. We'll still be linked up with our Coppermine gallery for the time being but that may have to change later down the road. No need to worry about that yet.

What's all this mean? Well in the next few days, if you come to the site and we're not here, well...we'll be right back.

So sit back and enjoy the ride, we'll get there sooner or later. :coolio

Oh, everyone is more than welcome to keep posting on the forum. You're not going to mess a thing up. When I shut this site down and actually do the migration, you'll know it cause like, you know...you won't be able to ...you know...post. :geek

Oh great...first we lost HS and now we lose this. :( Just kidding!

When the changes are made will we still be able to add files like we do now? I really like this feature as I can post more pics this way.

Man Mats, your memory is better than my Wife's :facepalm

Les, yes, file attachment will remain in place. In the past I had it turned off and the last update it got toggled back on, I was concerned about the attachments at first but I see you guys really like to use it so we'll leave it in place. :coolio

Does this mean we still can be friends? Maybe better smileys? I cant think of anything else to add so its OK I guess. :stinker

OK folks, at this point do not make any changes to your profiles unless you want to do it again. I got all the user information transfered. Just trying to figure out how to transfer all the forum messages.

If you have any private messages that are really important to you, save them. I will not be transferring private messages.

You can still keep posting to the forum, I will shut the site down when I'm ready to make that transfer.

So I wonder if that is where my random error message has been coming from the past few days. Haven't been able to post anything until today. It's cool I'll just blame you Bob :D :rotf

Must have bad timing Ryan, yeah I've been banging on the database pretty hard but it should be easy now. Only have two tables to transfer and trying to figure out how to get that accomplished.

That's what I figured Bob. But hey it gave me a chance to clear out my cache and run all my virus scanners in the hope that I didn't catch some random bug lol.

Ok Gang, I'm ready to pull the trigger. I'm planning on first thing in the morning, course depending on where morning is for you...could be evening, or afternoon. :drinks

Thanks for making it all work bob.
This sure beats licking stamps.

Cheers and thanks for making all the smoke and mirrors/magic happen here in cyber space.

Out,

Bill
