Still fighting not having any motivation to model, and a lot of that I think is job related. Once work settles down I think it'll get better.
But this evening I was able to make a small push, and started weathering the base.
Tonight I pulled out a bottle of ProModeller Dark Dirt weathering wash, and started carefully brushing it onto the head. Once it was mostly dry, using some makeup applicator sponges, I gently & carefully started removing the excess. I'm very happy w/ how its going so far. I think I'm going to put down at least one more application of the Dark Dirt, and then in a few places, like the large crack I'm going to put some pure black to add depth & contrast.
I normally use these washes on gloss paint so that its easier to remove, and wont discolor the base coat, but I wanted a more toned down color for the head, and I got pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I think I'd still like it a bit darker, so adding one or two more wash applications will probably help w/ that. Once the washes are done, I'll do some light dry brushing in places to help bring out detail and high lights, and then I'll start on the ground around the head. I think I'm going to try a small application of the dark dirt to the ground and see how it looks before I try doing the whole thing.
Tonight I also started working on filling some of the joint seams on the Tabe beasties, but it wasn't going real well, so instead of forcing it, I just focused on the base.
