A-stoff trailer 3d printed in resin, another of the support vehicles for the V2 rocket. usually towed by a Hanomag SS-100 tractor. found this kit in Cults3d. nice simple kit, of course Im doing some upgrades to it to improve its appearance.
the kit parts
I dry fitted the kit parts and this is a how its going to look when finished
I started by reinforcing the front part of the chassis to prevent it to posibly bend because of the weight of the hollow fuel tank.
the kit had no suspension details and the tires are to be glued to a molded on shaft, I removed the molded on shaft using a rotary tool to make the area flat.
a tamiya flak 88 set was the donor of the leaf springs for the trailer, I modifyed the lenght to fit on the trailer.
here the springs are cutto size and glued to the chassis. it looks way much better now.
the suspension shaft is made with styrene tube.
the wheels are glued to the new shaft
to finish the rear suspension I used wire to make the u bolts that hold the shaft to the leaf springs.
now the front boogey received styrene replacement sides because I broke the two bases for the towing A arm. it was too fragile so I glued the styrene strips to the sides and sanded to shape
here the front leaf springs are ready to install
the front tires with shaft is installed, using wire the u bolst are made.
I didnot liked the original wheels and tires of the kit, looked to simple, after verifying photos of the original trailer I concluded that the wheels and tires of the trailer looks like the ones of the opel blitz, so Im started to print a set for it. thats all for now. thanks!
