Well , ..... anyone watch episode #1 of THE PACIFIC last night on HBO ?

Thoughts , .......... observations .................

Yet to screen here matey. Was it Stephen Ambrose's son's book that it was based on? Or the script written for? Or something?

Steven Ambrose's son Hugh is a consultant , Tom Hanks , Steven Spielberg , and Bruce McKenna as co - executive producer .

HBO films Playtone , Dreamworks and Seven Network [ Australia ] , for rights to broadcast in Australia .

Pup , I'll give you a clue , ......... Japan owns a lot of U.S. real estate and corporations nowadays ...........

I think it's somewhat based on the book With The Old Breed as the author, Eugene Sledge, is one of the main characters.

I saw it and I am eagerly anticipating next weeks episode.

I enjoyed watching it, told myself before it was on not to compare to Band of Brothers, I think it's going to be good.

Saw it and loved it. I thought they did just as great a job on it as they did on Band of Brothers. Can't wait for the next episode.

For those who may not have seen this, here is the link to a 20min behind the scenes show.

I enjoyed Eugene Sledge's book "With the Old Breed" about 25 years ago,I still have in in my library.I saw the making of this, and some samples, but since I don't have HBO I will have to wait for the DVD or the history channel. But from what I seen,it looks pretty good !!

Well we in Australia just got episodes one and two on Guadalcanal here last night and it was brilliant. I cannot wait to see next weeks episode . :D

I've only seen part of 4 and all of 5. I'm not thrilled with it truth be told. I think because it is more character based (building up the personal stories). The battle scene I did see was certainly well done. I guess I was looking for a more Band of Brothers type of movie which was more action based.

Yeah, its actually the same as Band of Brothers. It follows one group from start to finish. Only difference is that the 1st Marines had a lot more downtime than the 101st.

Have only seen the opening two episodes so far. The first hour felt a bit "soapy-ish" to me. Am trying not to compare it to Band of Brothers.
