Master at Arms
This is the biggest thing I have ever started so far. B)
As you all know it's a monster of a thing so much to do and it definitely requires a lot of planning. Simply following the instructions won't cut it, if you want it weathered. Once things are in place, good luck trying to give it a wash and whatever else needs doing. So, I am thinking three times before I glue something.
First things first, the tractor - pic below
Then, the cabin. All the bits and pieces in place, on the roof (interior) and sides. Sorry for the angles, I am still to set up my photo area properly. I have also done the rear wall of the cabin but forgot to take a photo of it :smack
Onto the trailer - pic below
The reason why I gave all these things a coat of paint is that I need to have them weathered (at least a wash) prior to moving forward.
Then I started adding some details - although it's a Tamiya kit, it still lacks things that would make it more interesting. These massive things had some interesting features - no front brakes to avoid the "nose dive" effect, rear traction, wheels driven by chains and having oil dripping constantly. There is an oil tank in the kit, but not much else, so I have added the valves and the small pipes. Two on each side.
As I want to show the rear of the tractor, the brakes need some detailing, so I added the hoses and the two clamps on the rear axle.
I started with the tires - 19 of them :woohoo: they all got a Vallejo primer and a Vallejo Dark Rubber paint. Weathering will follow shortly
Only 3 tires showing there, but they are all done, promise
My fellow Aussie here Ian Hill - your legendary dio is an inspiration for this thing, cheers for that mate :drinks
Thanks for watching,
Laurence
