to continue with this build,..........more bits plus a commander made up of a hornet head and hand and Tamiya body going to be enhanced somewhat. I might even do the commander in the figures section

Hi all, well Ive had a terrible past few months to deal with ,namely losing both my parents, but I am back and advancing but without photos so i took some today to show you my progress. I try where I can to use acrylics or acrylic based paints and as you can see Ive copied the kit artwork as far as I can but feel the red brown was a bit too dark oh well we will see if I can lighten it up in the following stages.

My sincerest condolences, Andy! Glad to see you are still working on the kit but care for yourself and your loved ones. We'll be here.

Loosing parents is always hard. Really sorry to hear of your loss. As Saúl said we are always here and glad to hear from you.
As to tank colors, we are all working from old B&W photos so who knows what the colors really are. I built the Maus and finished mine a few months ago. As it is a one off tank there is only one pattern for the paint, and I found photos from all the way around it in B&W. I did the best I could to match them, but it was still a toss up as to which were green, which were brown and other things. The instructions had a totally bogus scheme which I ignored.
Your build is looking good and l am looking forward to seeing how you finish it up.

The paint is looking great!
Don't worry to much about the red brown, as it appears in different shades in all the B+W photos. The experts will tell you it was always 'this color or that color', but they don't know. The real truth is that no 2 paint cans will be the same and the paints were diluted in different ways and painted by different people all the time, even from the factory.
Paint records show that some of the red primer was mixed to a more chocolate hue, once the Dark Yellow was reduced in coverage in the later part of '44 and into 45. In '45 they were following the order to cover the tank in a base of green and the primer could also be grey. As you well know applying a red brown cammo coat over either of these will alter the hue, let alone considering the other factors I mentioned.

Thankyou all means a lot,
so the kit didnt come with extinguisher decals so made my own totally not accurate but looks okish
