T-64

DSC05000.JPG

I was noticing this ring at the end of the barrel.I'm wondering why they didn't use styrene for that,
I don't see the point of using Photo Etch for it. :hmmm

Keep at it James! (y) :popcorn

Hi Ron. Much finer than plastic I guess.
Got a primer coat on. I see some areas not quite covered. Hope the paint will fix that. Will let dry a few days before I get to final painting I think.

You want a very interesting Russian MBT thats an absolute joy to assemble then this is the one. Cant wait for my T-64BV to come so I can do something from the current Ukraine actions.

Doesn't look too big either... I built a Dragon T-72 years and years ago and it really looked out-of-scale alongside contemporary western tanks. I saw one (T-72) in person at the Artillery Museum in St. Petersburg, alongside a ZIL 5-ton truck, and the truck definitely had more... 'presence' if you know what I mean.

Looking at the T-90 on my shelf it is longer than a Stug III and Pz III but only slightly higher than the stug. The Pz III is taller. Width wise it is wider. Beside a BRDM 2 and the BRDM "looks" bigger, I guess that would be the presence is bigger. I guess thats why they want short tankers in the Soviet union. The MBT is so diminuative. But look down that barrel and its mighty big. Cant wait to see this beside the T-90.

Yes, they can nail it when they are not rushing to compete! By the way, since Meng didn't announce their Scud, Trumpeter didn't rush it. Plus I know the references they used were very good!

Okay been a tough week but I got some modeling in anyways. Painted this up in Ammo of Mig Russian paints, but I seem to have gotten something wrong. Might be because I added Migs thinners or maybe too much thinner. The paint looked like garbage. I let it sit for a few days and before work this morning I painted it using Vallejo Air. Again an issue and I have some splattering. It doesn't look as bad as I initially thought, but not great either. I hope after more paint and weathering it will be good enough to show off in public. I have to redo the metal wheels also, but that will come with weathering.

(I'm not really sure if in the last minutes of the video that are T-64's,looks more like T-72,but I could be wrong)

Okay, not thrilled with how this is turning out. I think I'll have to get another and do a better job of it.

I don't know James,it doesn't look bad at all in my eyes.
Maybe the general color is too dark (but this could be the lighting).IF it's too dark in your opinion, start with lighter green enamel filters over a acrylic gloss coat.
Then go on with some more weathering.
At this stage, nothing is lost. :cheer:

I don't know James, it looks really good to me! Right now it is a blank canvas, maybe a wash and some drybrushed highlights and it should look awesome!
