"Stand Down Shenanigans" Camp Bearcat, RVN 1967

Thanks, Gary.

Well, I got the fourth figure completed. He took longer to complete than I had anticipated. After I painted the base color, I later decided I wanted to make it a bit darker so I just glazed it with Black Green to make it darker. I wanted to make this guy's uniform a tad darker so it would look like a newer uniform hence his not being able to handle his drinking like the others. I must not have mixed the Anti-Shine additive in well enough as it had the opposite effect, so I had to repaint it all. I was not able to make the uniform as dark as I had intended, but at least he got a new looking pair of jungle boots on. Then since he is bent over and I had already glued his arms into place, there was some difficulty in accessing the front torso and the legs behind the arms for shading and highlighting. The face did not come out as well as I would have liked, but since he is bent over throwing up, it won't matter that much. I think he turned out OK.

Now on to the final figure. I already preshadowed his uniform and face, and his pose will be easier to paint.

Thanks for looking. Take care and stay safe.
Cheers,
James

I just completed the fifth and final figure for this diorama about 30 minutes ago. I think he turned out fairly well.

Now to try to finish the M151 so I can get this diorama completed!

Thanks for looking. Take care and have a great weekend.

Thanks, guys.

Well, I finally got this diorama completed last night. In the first several photos, which are part of a series of about a hundred photos I took, I had forgotten to add the antenna to the M151. It was really a shame as many photos were pretty good, but is not of the completed "Completed" diorama. This time I played with two backgrounds of Bearcat, a company street and the PX, to provide a setting for the diorama. In these photos you may notice some Carlin's Black Label beer cans, a PBR can, and a bottle of "33" not to mention the vomit on the ground and the stream of pee.

Once I realized that I had forgotten the antenna, I immediately put one on and shot some more photos. Unfortunately I had already secured the diorama to the lid of my transport box, so I took them with it still attached to the lid. I was able to place the photos of Bearcat behind the diorama so I could take some photos that reflect the location.

And the last set. I hope y'all like this diorama. It was one of the more fun ones to make and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I still need work on the photography, but the figures, model, and diorama I think look decent.

I love this. Having been through some shenanigans whilst in port with some shipmates, I can visualize this happening. :drunks:

Thanks. Besides stories from my Dad and some other Vietnam Veteran friends, I was also inspired by events that took place both in the Marines and the Army. I guess Shenanigans are a total Armed Forces phenomenon :)

That dang Black Label will make you do some stupid stuff, or so I've heard.... 🍻

It'll make yo do some stupid stuff or make you sick. Ha ha ha. Both are depicted here. I am sure these guys' First Sergeant isn't going to be too happy about this when the MPs come to him about this. The dude pissing on the seat will end up with shit burning detail for sure. :)

I love it! brought back some fond memories of Korea 1977, I was in the Marines at the time. We had a four hour pass in one of the local vills, of course I spent my time drinking. On the way back in a duce and a half I needed relieve myself so out of the back of the truck and onto the escorting Army MP M151 I took care of it.

Thanks Mark and Sprueman.

Mark, I think I agree with you that this is one of the best that I have done. I am very happy with it. Simple, but a good story line.

Cheers,
James

We were receiving a mission brief, from some HHQ LtCol who's head was too big for the room, when a bird few through the hanger, landed on his shoulder and pooped down his arm and back. I have never understood why he got mad? The bird was a messenger form God and just passing on His opinion.
