Master at Arms
Finally got this kit! It looks nice! I've never reviewed a kit before but have been very excited about this kit for about two years now and I just wanted to post these images for interest in case anyone is considering it!
I'm sure someone else more skilled than I will post a much more thorough review!
It is going to be a big plane when finished, I've compared it to something a lot of you might have in your stash already, a 1/48 PBY fuselage for a size comparison. It will eat up a lot of shelf space.
Wings x 2 . These have fine recessed panel lines and rivets which look very well done. I won't even begin to address accuracy but they look great!
Floats left and right x 2.
Office and fiddly bits
Decals and photoetch
Clear parts ( I heard this is what was delaying the release of this kit. I'm glad they waited as they look beautiful and clear)
resin goodies! The engines look awesome!
Overall, it looks like a beautiful kit! I think there will be a second variant released in the future, based on the parts that will not be used.
For a short run kit it looks very good, if you're use to Tamiya and Hasegawa, you might be a little disappointed in the quality of this kit but if you have built a few short run kits I think you will enjoy it!
There's 3 options for finishing the kit, K6+TH with a winter white wash, M2+BL for night operations and 8L+FH which they recently raised and is being restored.
On first glance, it looks like there might be a few small errors in the instructions (part placement) and a few of the parts did detach from the sprues during transport. Everything is well packaged in its own bags and the fragile bits are stapled to a cardboard insert in the box to protect them. The main plastic sprues are packaged all together in one bag but it doesn't look like any major parts got scratched during transport in my example.
I won't comment on fit in this brief review, I'll leave that to someone else!
There you have it folks, a first glance I hope at the new 1/48 He 115!
Thank you Special Hobby!
