At 9:00am Texas and Louisiana DOTs closed the Interstate 10 bridge at the Sabine River in southwest Louisiana/southeast Texas due to flooding at the approach on the Texas side. All of this from last week's rain that dumped 20 inches of rain in northwest Louisiana. I don't ever remember them having to close the bridge for flooding. At one point last week, the flood gates at the Toledo Bend Reservoir were letting out 210,000+ cubic feet per second of water into the Sabine River. We're dry here in Sulphur which is in the middle of the parish, but the western side near the river is being evacuated.

Hope you have enough provisions to ride this out .

Stay dry Keeny and keep an eye out for snakes .

Cheers, Christian B)

Wow, I drove that route oh, so many years ago on my way to California. Amazing. I saw that band of rain go through and knew it was going to be bad, but not that bad. Stay safe Kenny, keep your head above water my friend.

As of now, the I-10 bridge is still open but Texas DOT is monitoring it closely. The flooding is well to the west of the house so there is no worry there, but as a parish Public Works supervisor we are always on call.

No need to worry about the snakes or, more importantly, alligators Christian. The water is still too cold for them.

Mark, we got lucky with the rain itself. We were forecast to get 12 to 15 inches and then the rain bands went around us. As a precaution, our school district cancelled classes. Then, people on social media started getting mad at the weathermen because we got just a trace of rain. Some people are just ignorant.

Stay dry Kenny ... I just got back from Paris and the water has reseeded in that area ... so dry is coming ... although the construction area on 224/24 flooded enough that there were several cars washed downstream .... It should run out into the gulf soon ... hard too imagine We only got about 6 to 7 inches here ... and your right Social Media Sucks ... :woohoo:
