Some progress on the LRDG dio

Hi All
I have managed to start on the vehicle and some of the figs for the Dio
Started off by spraying the Chevy with a coat of acrilic bronze afyer it primer had been applied.
After that i gave it some coats of sand col in different shades wanted to to make it worn and sand beaten .I decide to try my hand at the photo etched parts so made up the recognition panel holders on the wings which i think look ok for a first attempt.
Put the dash add ons and the foot pedals, and the vent in the open positin on the hood .
Attachments for the chain on the back tail gate, rifle holders and shovel holder.
The figures are sort of getting there will need to put some more washes on them to tone down things, the Ozzi i was thinking could be a replacement so would be a sporting a uniform which would be a little less worn.
I have not painted a figure foe a long time and this small Jesus i forgot how small they are lol ,think i will be able to cope with the uniforms but the faces ia am dreading thats for sure .
I hope you like the pics all feed back would be greatly appriciated.
Cheers Chris

Yea its been really enjoyable doing this and my first attempt at brass etched springy things which to be honest i have enyoyed doing used, to think Jesus thats a lot of fiddling about then to lose it lol but its sort of got me .Hope to take some good ref pics in Tunisia in June for the dio still pulling lost of ideas around in my head would like to incorporate that italian vehicle as it looks so cool and modern aginst the dated but dependable Chevy, and as my dad used to say they not very practcal uniforms the Italians had but god did they look good lol
Cheers Chris

Really nice work Chris, really interested in your chipping and wearing down the nonskid. I gotta tell ya though, I would have to wire up those batteries up since they are so exposed, would they had been painted the same color as the box?

Hi Guys

I painted the who;e model in acrilic bronze, then sprayed a coat of darkish sand i then painted the areas that would have wear the steps bumper hood fenders flat bed the side panels with metal coat .Sort of over painted then used some artist masking fluid .
Then i sprayed it with a lighter miixture of sand sort of over sprayed with a dryer mix which gave the sand effect build up i then peeled off the masking fluid and polished up the area of metal coat with a Q tip.
Yea i am going to paint the batteries up another col have to find out what they were col wise how do you mean wired up moon puppy if you have a surggestion that would be great.
Thanks for the feed back guys

Cheers Chris

Hi Chris,

This is a favorite of mine.

Re: More work with the LRDG DIO

Yeah this looks much better than the other post, I'll delete that one. Dio is looking good, love how you've worked the tarp and seat. I guess the pastic wrap protects the stowage while the milliput(?) hardens?

Re: More work with the LRDG DIO

Thanks for the feed back yea the cling wrap worked out pretty good with protecting the stowage ,will start painting the seat i have done the rolls for the fender baskets made my own from milliput putting them in place tonight.
Cheers Chris

Re: Bit more work LRDG

Hi Chris, looking sharp here. To answer your question about wiring the battery, there would have been leads coming off the post of the battery, just like in your car. If it were me I would place small wire between the poles on the batteries and paint them black, this is of course if they were exposed as they are shown. You'd have to check your references. Really love what you have done with this!

Chris,
Looks great... Love the seat and tarp...
Looks like the Digger is enjoying a smoke and talk with the LRDG guys.
Can't wait to see it finished.
