Secrets of WWI Battlefield Uncovered

Thanks for posting this- The 'War to end all wars' was a mish mash of 19th century tactics and 20th century technology. WW1 rivaled the American Civil War in battle casualties and those sites should be preserved.

I live in Italy near the Piave River, which was the scene of bloody battles in WW1. In June 1918 there was the most important called "Battle of the Solstice" fought between Italian and Austro-Hungarians. Within a radius of 10 km there were about 90,000 deaths. In the past it was rare to find a corpse during agricultural work, the last body was found in 2000. In virtually every home in the country there are "souvenirs" of war (some very dangerous). Even today you can see the trenches, the locations of bunkers and some parts that protrude from the ground and every year there are about 50-60 weapons, some loaded with gas.
