Romania's National Day Army Parade

White_Wolf

Master at Arms
These pictures show the National Day Parade in Bucharest (December 1st) from 2013, 2012 and 2011.

Thought it might be interesting to see some vehicles and not only

That could really skew your view on women in the military.

Thanks Laurence. I for one really enjoy these types of post (y)

I always wanted to convert my BTR-70 into a TAB-77.

Another idea was to kit bash and cut up Trumpeter's BTR-70 into a four wheeler and add Dragon's SA-9 to make the CA-95M:

Any images of either?

Regards,

Regards,

Let me try see what I can find. We had TAB 77 and 71 in the army when I was there, I'll see what pics I can find. Currently there is a program to replace them with a new 8x8 called SAUR.

Images of TAB 77 in different colours.

Firing the 14.5 mm MG

With green-brown camo. When I was in the army they were all green, towards the olive drab WW2 american style, maybe a bit lighter.

This one is a more modern version called ZIMBRU (an animal that resembles the american buffalo, long standing on coat of arms from hundreds of years ago). It looks very much like a TAB 77.

One of the most obvious differences between TAB71 (much more like the BTR's) and TAB77 was the size of the wheels and the fact that the chassis was more "horizontal" rather that at an angle. The TAB 77 had SAVIEM engines.

Hope it helps

Laurence

The TAB-71, of which we had one in the Foreign Materials Branch motor pool, was based on the BTR-60 but I didn't see any instances of combat usage.

Of course, until I got rid of all my Trumpeter T-54/55, I was thinking of making them into the TR tanks seen during the uprising.

That's right, Romania has not been in a conflict situation from 1945 until 1989.
1989 - December Uprising - TAB's out in the street and tanks, all firing etc
post 1990 there have been units deployed to various conflicts in the world but only APC's, the earliest model deployed was TAB 77 - from memory.

This seems based on the BTR-80, which makes sense as it is a progression of the BTR-70.
