Rolls Royce - 1914 Armoured Car

Gentlemen, once again, thank you for your graceful comments. It really means a lot :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

Dave, it's the Roden kit, comes in three possible schemes, I am doing the 1918 Middle East version, looks better IMO and it has a big sign over the turret saying SUPERB - I wish :blink

Because it's the 1918 version, the tires will be black, box art also showing them black, many photos do show white ones as well, so matter of choice I suppose.

The rear of the car is a mess, looks terrible. I will put all the stowage I can find in the kit and scratch some too to hide the imperfections. I don't hate the car, it's the kit itself that doesn't come anywhere close to the quality of let's say Revell or Tamiya to name just these two.

More photos soon I hope.

OK, some more stuff done - painted, headlights on, decals on except for the turret.

Turret sloped sides are white. Entire model got a wash with raw umber diluted with rectified turp.

More to come soon I hope.

Greetings,Ron.

Wow works up into a nice looking model. Great job so far.

Thanks Terry - appreciate it. Stowage to be added, more weathering and some filling and sanding, but it's progress, happy with that. :notworthy

Great work Laurence. Mentioned before I've seen only a couple of these built-up at shows and they are very impressive. Amy chance you could take some pics in a more 'neutral' light ??, there's a lot of green filtering into these shots which is distorting/altering the effects you're working so hard on.

Absolutely, sorry for the light. Lack of space prevents me from having my photo layout available all the time, but will definitely take some pics and post them.

Thanks,
Laurence

Update on this one - finally managed to put in place all original parts - the only change was the headlights - the transparent part (the lens, glass thingy) is actually a flimsy piece of thin plastic in the kit :vmad :vmad :vmad that is just ridiculous. Thankfully have some Micro Kristal Clear - so built them using it - works perfectly. Cleanup required but job done.
There is some weathering on the car but lots more to come - the decals silvered like mad, never seen it so bad before - but working on it.
The turret is only placed on top the car, not properly in place, hence the funny angle.

Thanks gentlemen, appreciate it. It's time to work on some stowage, research first then possibly scratch building stuff. :geek

Not so much done this week - bit slack :smack

Sides have received some weathering, there is the light on top the turret that is waiting a final coat of paint and the MicroKristal treatment, plus the sign that says SUPERB. That's a weird one because the plate is a flimsy piece of plastic, there is no way that could be glued in place, needs brackets :vmad

Anyway, this is the model at the mo, bit more painting needed and some more weathering ... sheesh, lots of work.
