Hi there... This is my first ever post on T&T, Recently I've been working on converting a T-72 tank into Polish built PT91m, This tank is my first every scratch build/conversion.. This tank is the MBT for malaysian armed forces and I've decided to built it for our national day group built,
To start off I will modified the turret area and I will show you how...
I'm using a Mini Hobby Model T-72B with mineroller kit for this conversion, I do have a Tamiya T-72 but don't have the guts to hack and saw all the detailed parts.

some of the parts need to be cut off to rebuilt the savan optic system

PC260214.jpg

using tamiya epoxy putty to fill up the the 'sawed' area

P1030269.jpg

using johson's klear floor polish, mix with talcum powder and cover thoose small cavities

Looks better than the stock parts...

thats all for today
C&C are welcome

cheers

Vision,
Looks really nice so far. Lots of reactive armor on that beast.
I'll be following this one. It's a little too modern for my taste,
but I do love to follow a good build.

thanks Shawn for the comments, well FYI this is my toughest build so far. Stay back and enjoy the show

It is a very nice looking tank! Is that the Polish demonstrator?

I have a PT-76B which I am considering Malaysian markings for...

Welcome to TnT,

P1160281.jpg

using 1.5mm thick evergreen styrene and draw lenghts of 4.5mm X 4.5mm tiles

P1160282.jpg

using a needle, secure it on a pivise and scribe it into shape

P1160286.jpg

the finish product
P1170293.jpg

same goes for the larger parts, 4.5mm x 4.5mm for each tiles

using a piece of Evergreen styrene and cut out the circle for the hatch

Sharkmouth,

As I remembered, I don't think the malaysian armed forces have PT-76B in their inventory
most of the armoured vehicle are originated from South Korea, Poland, U.K, or locally assembled armoured car, This is the very first main battle tank for our country.. But most modellers are unhappy with the defence minister's choice of Choosing this Polish demonstrator as the MBT for malaysian army. It's because the PT91M is built based on the russian T-72M1 and with few additional upgrades from the polish.

Tks & Rgds
Alvin

P3280643.jpg

using some locally published war magazine as a refrence for the ERA tiles arrangement

P2280573.jpg

partially arrangement of the tiles on the turret

img_6_13494_6.jpg

on closer inspection, the photo shows that there is some sort of platform supporting the ERA tiles....

P2280574.jpg

....... and managed to replicate it, Im not very sure is it 100% accurate?

P3280648.jpg

Finally, I've arranged all the ERA tiles on the turret :cheer: :cheer:

both sides looks ok to me... so far so good

for the sprocket conversion, the normal T-72 sprocket has 14 teeth while the polish build PT91M has 12 teeth. I will show you how I modified it..

P1020261.jpg

this picture is the original kit sprocket which needs to trim the extra teeth.
P1020262.jpg

The jewel of this modification is the 100% computer guided scratch build sprocket, made of 100% hardened steel
P1020263.jpg

the design is to fit MHM kit and tamiya sprocket with no tolerance
P1030264.jpg

cut out the teeth....
P1030265.jpg

and put it in.... looks like a real PT91M B)
P1030266.jpg

after cleaning up and test fitting, this is what it looks like
P1030267.jpg

test fitting with leopard 2A6 tracks,

C & C are welcomed

thanks for the kind words guys.... Please stay tuned for more

P5150765.jpg

using some refrence, I'm starting to add some detail on the hatch
P5150772.jpg

P5160773.jpg

For the turret machine gun, I will select it from this academy u.s. machine gun set
P5160786.jpg

P5160788.jpg

P5160790.jpg

this is some of the shots that I took after I glued it on the Hatch

P5150756.jpg

For the rear lower hull, the T72 and the PT91M are totally diffrent
P5150758.jpg

cut some evergreen styrene and glued it in place and start to cut the shape out
P5150760.jpg

same goes for this piece
P5150761.jpg

test and dry fitted, but need some cleanup on the cement residue. Looks good for me. So far so good
