"PILOTS AND THEIR PLANES" CAMPAIGN

Interesting, over the past year I have obtained four kits with the idea of modeling aircraft of well know pilots, three of them from my home state of Ohio, a Spitfire flown by Don Gentile while in Eagle Squadron, both of Ohio's favorite sons and former astronauts John Glenn and Neil Armstrong flew F9F's in Korea, one Navy and the other Marine. The other kit was John McCain's A-4E Skyhawk. So I'm well stocked for this one, just need to pick one.

As a side note Ted Williams also flew the F9F with the Marines and in an exchange program John Glenn also flew the F-86 in Korea

I would like to partake in this but I haven't been to consistent with finishing campaign builds.

Ok, I'm thinking of one of four choices from what I have in my stash:

1. A6M3 Zero Lt. Shiro Kawai, 201st Naval Flying Group

2. J2M3 Jack Lt. J.G. Yoshihiro Aoki, 352 Flying Group

3. Ki-27 Nate Capt. Shigetoshi Inoue, 1st Sentai

4. A6M2-N Rufe Sub Lieutenant Keiso Yamasaki

Not sure which one to do yet.......

In what scale? MUHHU HAHA haha Ha Ha!
I like your idea. I usually build one of my Heroes airplanes, so I know who flew it and when.
HARRUMPH!!

Could easily do a second (or third) build...

Freddy Ohr's late war P-51D, these are just off the top of my head, lots and lots of choices for this one. Almost too many to pick even trying to avoid the more obvious ones (Galland, Tuck, Von Richthofen, Hartmann, Trutloft, Olds, Cunningham, Bader etc, etc.

Ian.

I totally had the Snoopy model

Yeah, I'd say it's a go. Bonus points for the Red Baron kit also.

I see them on Ebay, only 100 bucks for the Snoopy, Red Baron comes in at $80. :blink :blink
