More progress on the Dokdo. Photo etch railings taking shape.
As the Dokdo spends more time at sea, there are more reference photos available. I'll need to remove the well deck and repaint it, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Good shots referencing the deck and hull colors.
Here are my plans once I get to the point where I can mounted it to the base:

Photos as promised.
The hull is painted with Vallejo Medium Sea Grey and the Deck is Vallejo Grey Green dry brushed with German Grey.
Touch ups with the black need to be done and I need to reattach some of the photo etch safety netting around the flight deck. I can say that now I have attached photo etch before and after painting, I prefer to attach after painting.
The US Navy's website has some awesome high res photos of the Dokdo on their website.

Hey guys. I got to work today on some of the smaller bits of the Dokdo build.
First up is the helicopters. The kit comes with two KUH helicopters. Now, when the Dokdo deployed, she was equipped with UH-60 Black Hawks with external fuel tanks and UH-1 Hueys.
Here are the KUH helos off their pour stubs and cleaned up along with the side doors with Gator Glue in the door windows.
When it comes time to place the aircraft on the deck, I will likely have one of the KUH on the deck with UH-60s and maybe a UH-1.
Now, something I'm going to add to the Dokdo is an LCAC exiting the well deck with a K1 tank as cargo.

Saul, the LCAC is the new L'arsenal kit and it's beautiful! The K1 is actually a M1 Abrams from the Hobby Boss USS Wasp kit. The K1 was based on the Abrams, so at 1/700 scale it's a good fit. The UH-60s and the UH-1 will come from the Skywave Worlds Military Helicopter kit.

Instead of trying to paint the canopies of the helicopters, I searched for line drawings of each of the helicopters, sized them to 1/700 and traced the glass on all the doors and windscreens. I will print these out on photo paper and then copy them on decal paper using a color copier.
