Bf-109G-2 flown by the best of Suomen Ilmavoimat ace (94 victories) – Ltm. Ilmari Juutilainen.
Ilmari Juutilainen was fight from beginning of WWII (December 1939 - Winter War) to the end of the Continuation War in 1944. During this time, he was piloted a three main Suomen Ilmavoimat fighters: Fokker D. XXI, Brewster Buffalo and Messerschmit Bf-109G. He’s first victory was a Tupolev SB-2 – he shot down him on December 19, 1939 flown Fokker D. XXI (FR-108). First on the Bf-109G (MT-222) he achieve on June 5, 1943 (LaGG-3 or P-40).
MT-222 came from the second batch delivered to the Finns in the spring of 1942. This aircraft was very happy for Juutilainen – on this machine he shot down the 13 Soviet aircraft (better result he obtained only on MT-457: 15 wins). In total on Bf-109G he shot down 51 enemy aircraft. MT-222 was used by Juutilainen from March 1943 to March 1944 when he was lost in an accident (the pilot Sgt Mäittälä was killed).
