New guy

Welcome aboard, BM. You've got an upper hand on us, you have all the tools to make your own stuff, true one-of-a-kind material, figures, you name it. That's awesome! Have fun and post em when ya got em. BTW, lotza Vet here, too, so you're in good company.

Cheers, Ski.

Thank you. I've been into building stuff since I was very young. Now, as I've gotten old and machines have become more available to consumers, I've gotten to work in makerspaces, then also setup my own equipment to build with. 🫡 to fellow vet

Welcome, BM. I have using AutoCad (2D only) for years and am trying to learn 3D modeling for printing. I look forward to picking your brain! Just starting on Fusion, Blender didn't seem to work for me.

I've taught beginners 123d design (yes its still an active old software but was preface for TinkerCAD and Fusion) Also use TinkerCAD, Fusion, Meshmixer, FreeCad, and a little bit of Blender. If someone is starting out geometric, 123d is easy to wrap your head around. Sadly it doesn't have a time line like other CADs, so making changes in design takes some additional thinking ahead.

Thanks! Are you trying to do geometric or organic modeling?
I have no idea. I was hoping to make some parts for model and then also make my own designs for the laser. But for now just getting files off of the net, mainly from Cults 3D.

PS I cant even draw a stick man and have it be recognizable. My dad could draw, my oldest son can draw, drawing gene must have jumped over me lol.

I could get you started in 123d. You would need to join Discord and we do walk through builds (like once a week meet). We start with a picture you've found of your part. Grab some calipers, guess some measurements, and throw something at the wall to see if it sticks.

Welcome to the forum Mark. I am an old time draftsman that migrated to PCB cad back in the 90's (circuit boards).
For the last 20+ years though I have been doing watch repair for a living. I still use Canvas to do line drawings and create my photo posts. Back in the 90's and early 2k's I used 3D Studio Max for a bit and got somewhat proficient with it. These days though I would have to start over as it has all changed a bit. Would like to get a 3D printer, just don't have the time for it at this point.

If you change your mind, I just got a Bambu P1S with AMS2. It was a 10-15 min setup and I was printing 4 color models beautifully.
