Mud as camouflage

Anyone has tried to simulate the camouflage made of mud,as was used in North Africa? I would like to achieve something like this, but with more texture:

Any idea? It's for my Tamiya's Sd.Kfz.232

Thanks

Yeah, Fabio Saatchi did a great Sherman which was featured in AFV magazine No 46 May/June 2009
in which he added pigments to whatever colour he was using, this added a texture to the mud.

DARIO,

Do you have an Art Supply Store near where you live ? What you want to find in MATT MEDIUM*. You're looking for the kind in a TUBE. It's a clear gel. Mix it with whatever color Pigments you want to use. This stuff is th consistency of Petroleum Jelly. It will take on the color & have the consistency of Mud. It will dry Dead Flat so when it dries you will want to dab some Future or a Gloss Acrylic varnish to it to appear wet ( if that's what your after ) If you want it a DRY mud then let th solution dry naturally.

*- some of your better Known Manufacturers of Oil Paint _ Grumbacher, Windsor & Newton , make it. Liquatex also makes it( it comes in a Jar ) . I'm not sure if That particular brand is available in your country.

After you have it mixed to th color you want then Just smear it on with an Old brush. You want to get Sloppy random effects , like in Real Life !!

Hope this Helps Buddy !! :D (y)
Check this You Tube Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD35oS4ce90&feature=related about Half way through this Japanese Modeler uses this Technique to apply Mud to His 251.By th way this is an AWESOME series on You Tube ! 2 modelers get th same Kit & finish it The cameras follow each step from assembly to Final Weathering & I think th Audience votes on It !! IT Waaay Cool ! :ro: There are several parts to it Watch them all - Very Cool :ro:

Post your results any other Questions about th Matt Medium just send an E-mail or Post here !! CHEERS !!!

Thank you very much, guys.

Andy, I got a friend with a lot of AFV Modeller issues, I will phone it this afternoon

Erik, yep, I got medium gel for acrylic color; in fact I use it to make mud, but the trouble is it dry rock hard and I will can not simulate chipped parts when it was dry; may be Tamiya Flat Base will be more suitable; I will try

Thanks to all for your responses!
