  :( Hi All having one of those days ,can i use the mount with the kit that being the one for the lewis gun,i have looked and looked for a decent picture of how it would have been mounted, in the rear of the truck i have seen one on a LRDG site which shows a sort of bent/curved design which seems o be attached to the side of the interior of the truck .
Does anyone have any ideas or have done this model with a vickers configaration, bit frustrating seemed to be spending more time looking on the webb than doing the bloody model ...lol  :woohoo:

Cheers

Chris i have done the Vickers type LRDG ,are you thinkin of the swan neck mount for the Lewis gun on the passenger side ??????

Hi Chris , ...... when it comes to North Africa my thinking always tells me anything is possible .
Early on with shortages from beans to bullets , ........ let alone transporting things to a very fluid front , ......... I'm sure ad-hoc measures were taken to arm everything with anything .

Carabiner , yes the swan neck mount was used along side both the driver and passenger sides for , Lewis guns , Vickers mgs , etc.

If you look at the Bren carrier short pedestal mount , ...... I would say the Vickers was mounted in the same fashion on the LRDG .
Notice it has the cradle still attached to the mg which I'm assuming then slid into the pedestal .
Oh yeah I'm also sure the water tube was just very long to enable the mg to traverse left to right .

Some stuff ......... the second pic. is in Russia but just goes to show how field units made just about anything , to weld or bolt to a tank or any other vehicle in the field .
