Moronic things people say to owners of service dog

Moronic things people say to people with services dogs, Volume 1.

At the store:
Moron #1 - "Do your dogs bite?"
Me - "No."
Moron #1 - "Oh" disappointed.
Me - Smiling and walking off thinking "mine don't bit but I can introduce you a a couple of Malinois that would be more than happy to chew your ass.

At the barber shop:
Moron #2 - Petting Mac and Rommel without asking, "I'm trying to get my dog registered as a service dog online so I don't have to worry about finding a place to rent that allows pets."
Me - Too stunned to say anything and thinking about the $2,000 we have invested in Mac's training and certification.

I'll let you choose the appropriate one.

It makes you wonder about the human race doesn't it.

"Are you...BLIND?"

"Is your dog blind too?"
We get "Is your son blind?" in a whisper every once in a while. That doesn't upset us at all though. At lot of people don't know that there are service dogs for disabilities you can't see. It is our pleasure to be ambassadors for service dogs.

Maybe the next time somebody says something moronic you could point out that "intellectual impairment is a disability and would you like the phone number of our dog trainer to request your own service dog".

;)

Unfortunately, it is impossible to "fix stupidity".

What people should do (if they want to pet some one's service dog) is ask if it is alright for them to pet the dog. Usually it shouldn't be a problem, but that is the polite thing to do at minimum.

We are very selective as to who we let pet Mac and Rommel. Our trainer believes very strongly in the no petting rule. But because Mac is a child's dog, we have a visit command for him.

Oh I was beginning to think there was hope for me :(
