Moebius Bride Of...

One of my earliest memories is my older brothers tying me to a chair, A Clockwork Orange style, and sticking me in front of my Grandparents TV for Creature Features showing this film (I was 4).

Surviving that, I was destined to grow up building the old Aurora kits (Wish I had them now). When Moebius released this last year, I jumped on it to build with my sons and no, I didn't strap them to a chair to watch it. They do sit next to me watching The Walking Dead (yesterday the Uncut World War Z, don't tell my wife).

We started it when we got, but for some reason, never finished and it got jammed back in the box. While cleaning the shop, I decided to finish this one off, all that was needed was some seam filling and now it's ready for paint.

It's a nice kit, they really nailed the scene with the sculpt and the kit is complete with a lot of stills from the film. I can't wait for their new ones (overdo), Herman and Grampa Munster.

Cant wait to see this one. I think they caught Elsa Lanchesters likeness very well also.

She wore chicken wire cage under her hair to keep it in shape.
Loved Young Frankenstein also.

This film came out in 1935, Elsa Lanchester wasn't even billed in the credits of the film, they listed the Bride with a ? and left it at that. Love this sculpt- thanks for posting. :drinks CR

I hit the couple with the airbrush. First a pale greenish flesh over black, then a bit of orange-red around the edges and blue around the ears, eyes. mouth and nostrils (less on the bride) . I'm going to over spray a bit of highlight flesh and correct the spidering around the mouth, then start with the brush and washes.

I'm not a figure painter so I'm feeling my way through this, I figured it would be good to stop and grab a photo and get some feedback.

I'm having a lot of fun with this one.

Got to work on these a bit.

I finished Elsa's face in acrylic, I may hit her up with some oils after I get the hair and eyebrows sorted out. There's a subtle color variation that doesn't show well on film, I'm happy with the way it looks in person so far. I don't want to go too overboard with the monster tones on her, but she shouldn't be too human like either. I aimed the eyes towards the Monster when seated, but I think I missed the maniacal look that way. She doesn't look as wide eyed as in the film.

Comparing James' photo above, looks like I'm not too far off. I need to work on the eyelashes a bit, thicken the brow and widen the lipstick.

Should I do that with oils or just acrylic washes like I have been? I know at this magnification it shows the grain, but I don't want to get too much build up.

if you are comfortable doing it in oils,..you can make a real subtle job with that

I have not used oils in years perhapes I should do some on some of mine and practice what I preach.
