I guess time will tell if it's a new mold or Hasegawa repop. The Hasagawa kit is dated but still a nice kit. If it is a new mold it will be interesting to see if they managed to better Hasagawa's offering.

This kit was needed for a long time, the old Hasegawa kit is good but very old.
It will be interesting if Meng gets it right on this one after their Me 410 goofs.

From what I'm reading it is an all new kit Kit description and no doubt will be nice and like most new releases, expensive. I also suspect based on the parts count that it will have a lot of detail in places that can't be seen without it all opened up. Should be a boon to detailers, me I'm gonna stick with the Hasegawa kit in my stash, to many other new kits on the way that I don't have to start buying repeats ! :gogo

A while back Dragon announced they were going to produce 1/32 scale kits of the Me 163 and Do 335, I wonder if Meng bought the Me 163 molds from Dragon and is producing it under their own label? :hmmm

Thought crossed my mind also. If so I hope they bring out the Pfeil as I really want one.

Meng Komet Update

From the Meng site.

"The German “Komet” Flashing Across the Sky

The Me-163B “Komet” was the world’s only operational rocket-powered interceptor that ever joined combat and shot down enemy aircrafts. It had tremendous speed and climb rate thanks to its unique power source. So it’s used to intercept the allied bombers deep into Europe and Germany. However, due to the aircraft’s short loiter time and extremely high speed, the only wing (Jagdgeschwader) equipped with Me-163B just shot down 9 enemy aircrafts during WWII. Just like its nickname “Komet”, the Me-163B flashed across the sky of the history, leaving behind a bright light.

This 1:32 scale QS-001 Me-163B model kit is MENG’s first successful large scale aircraft project. The model is 178mm in length and 292mm in wingspan. This kit consists of 190 parts on 7 plastic sprues, 23 parts on 2 PE frets, 3 rubber tyres and 2 poly caps.

This QS-001 model faithfully replicates the small tail-less shape of Me-163B. Two different weapon systems, MG 151/20 and MK 108 are provided. Subassemblies like complete HWK 109-509A rocket engine, T-Stoff tank and ammunition box are included. Many hatches can be built either in open or closed position. Model fuselage breakdown refers to the structure of real aircraft. No cement is needed to join the front and rear parts of the fuselage. A support frame is provided to show interior details. Three painting schemes are provided.

Modelers will surely have brand-new experience of building this large scale fighter model which has full interiors."

I've been intrigued by their Me 410. But now I see that Revell will be repopping their version soon. Might just stick with that one.

Dusan,
That's great news! I wonder if and when Dragon will release theirs.

Ryan,
There is nothing wrong with the older Monogram/Revell Me 410 kits that makes the Meng Me 410 that much better, the question would be which one is cheaper. The canopy parts and the painting guide for the camo pattern on the Monogram/Revell kit are rubbish, from what I have seen of the Meng kit those same areas look to be an improvement everything else is about even.
