This is the starter placeholder. I am still working on my Ju88 and probably will through the weekend. (We'll see on that though)

Whats the usual line you see so often on builds? "Its an OOB , except for everything I changed/added."

Cheers,

I believe that OOB simply means all the parts are no longer in the box, nothing to do with every part being used as it, modified, or replaced! It will be fun to watch!

@Heavens Eagle, any AM for it? I saw masks, seats, exhausts, 3d decals, metal barrels, but no PE detail sets!

@Sharkmouth I would not need the masks though some 3D decals for the interior would be a big plus along with some metal barrels for the barbettes.

The kit is an Me410 A1 though it has a slight conversion to do the single seat Attack Fighter version. This does away with the rear firing barbettes and the canopy is completely redone from the windscreen back.

HOWEVER!!!

I did some research and found photos of the actual plane that the markings are for, and the canopy is even more revised than everyone thinks.
The photos I found are not great, but if you look and study them a little bit, it becomes obvious that there is quite a difference. This is mainly why I didn't build this kit last year.

The standard build is in the instructions with the barbettes and other markings the fighter is another sheet with the different markings and slight mods for the single seater.

(To be continued)

I've never heard of a single seat Me 410. As far as I now all are 2 person Zerstorer. Can you post a pic of the single seater?

Had to dig them out, and will post later this evening. Turns out there was only one it seems. Problem is that Fine Molds didn't find the photos (There are 2 slightly fuzzy from each side) and look very closely. The rear 2/3 of the canopy are completely different in shape as it didn't need the WIDE look out for the Barbette controls and sight.

I've built this kit. Only problem I remember is fiddling with the bomb bay doors
As I am waiting on some Quinta decals for the interior, I am doing all kinds of other parts like getting the engines and props done/redone so they spin nice and smooth. Then assembling other parts that won't be affected like the wings.
Yeah, the bomb bay door part does look a little fiddly. Thing is these didn't fit all that well on the real aircraft so there is a little latitude there.

Have been working on pieces of this as I have been waiting for USPS to get around to delivering my ebay order. (it has been in the Memphis pipeline since SUNDAY!) Idiots.
Anyway, have been getting prep work and sub assemblies done and here is a little update.

Once I get the goodies I will get this beastie closed up and some assembly work done. Have a paint scheme picked out that I can do with decals and paint. As I don't have any letters or micro numbers I am kind of stuck as the kit decals are for a plane that had a completely different canopy, and the kit has the standard type. Should be interesting and do able.

Nice one Paul, I went back to fix the ol' Spirit of St. Louis, had to take the prop off to fix the paint job on it, been thinking about how to mount the spinner back. This gives good ideas, not sure how I"d mount it up in the lathe but good ideas.
