If I'm not mistaken, the Tasca kit has all this, maybe not to this depth. Would that be correct?

Yes they do. I'm to the point now of only purchasing Tasca, one big reason is I would not have to do all the extra work and just build the kit. The Dragon kits are not as bad as use to be, still for ten more bucks you do not have to do any correcting. That would speed me up a lot.

Getting close to maybe sticking the major assembly parts all together :idonno

Found this picture on of all places Facebook (I think someone scanned it from a book)But anyways it is a nice shot the hull and cover for where there was once a turret. It does not total match the supplied one in the kit.

Ran into a couple issues, 1) the part is a little small, 2) the part is a little warped, 3) missing the riser, 4) the problem that had me take this next step, it is uneven in height/thickness

The only real way to fix it and stop me from always thinking I should have was to make a new part. So I drew a circle on some .40 styrene sheet and cut it out. Now I do this in a fancy way, with scissors :facepalm

I then drew out the hatch opening, by taking the lines to the edge I also marked where the welds need to go.

Next I drilled a hole in each corner before cutting, this helps give me a start and stop place with the knife

I then cut the opening out, I did the sides first and then a couple lines a cross the center corner to corner. This helps when I push on the center to break the pieces out as it gives a re-leaf point.

About this time I discovered the supplies hatches are a little off from each other and hinge points on the cover. I did get a chuckle out of this, brought back memories of a company I worked for in the past. Not naming any names here :pp.

After some time with the file I'm able to make the hatches work

I marked the locations for making the other parts of the hinges
ARV09091320_zps5a93683d.jpg

This is the point I ran out of steam last night making the hinges, still need to mark the locations for some of the details and make the riser
