M 101 trailer

does anyone else think this Italeri trailer is over scale ?

DSC_7322.jpg

I'm used to seeing them behind LWB landrovers in England and the Landy is bigger than a jeep.
As far as i can see the box should be 75" /35 = 2.14" and this is 2.7" which is nearer 1/24 scale.

It actually measure 2.7" which x35 would be 94" which is 19" bigger than the Wiki dimensions i found ??

It looks over scale in this picture. :hmmm
Could Italeri be that wrong?

Does anybody know the answer?

Greetings,Ron.

Paddy, Are you thinking of the Canadian Army M101 Cargo Trailer which is a 1/4 ton capacity trailer? It is similar to the US M416 and not the US M101 cargo trailer.

The US Army M-101 Trailer Cargo, 3/4 Ton, 2-Wheel (G-748), was manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s as the trailer for the M37 3/4 ton cargo truck.

Manuals for the M-101 trailer originated in 1952 with TM 9-874A, updated to include TM 9-2330-202-14P (August 1962, 7 October 1993, May 1997, and other dates). The original parts list was SNL G-748. FSN and NSNs for the trailers are:
•M101 (FSN 2330-738-9509)
•M101A1 (FSN 2330-898-6779)
•M101A2 (NSN 2330-01-102-4697)
•M101A3 (NSN 2330-01-372-5641)

The M101A2 is composed of an M101A2 cargo box mounted on the M116A2 Chassis, Trailer, 3/4 Ton 2 Wheel and the M101A3 is similarly built upon the M116A3 chassis.

M-101 Trailer, Cargo, 3/4 ton Specifications:
Length, overall - 147 inches
Length, cargo box - 76 inches
Width, overall - 73.5 inches
Width, cargo box - 65.5 inches
Height - 35 inches
Height w/cover - 83 inches
Ground clearance - 14 inches
Weight - 1,340 lbs
Capacity - 1,500 lbs (M101A3: 2,000 lbs)
Note: Dimensions listed are for the M101A2 variant.

Regards,

cheers Sharky
There is no indication on the Italeri box of year or type other than M101 cargo trailer.
scaled up it works out as 94.5" inside the trailer box which doesn't tie in with either of your dimensions ? of 72" and 74" My guess is its supposed to be the US 3/4ton version in which case its no use to me anyway.
Many thanks for your research :)

The big question is whether or not these stocky-fingered chaps could have gotten their hands on one. If they were on hand- use it! ;)

usually that trailer comes with the dodge truck kits so i guess it's a little oversized for the jeep, try to find a smaller trailer like this one:

this is from Heller but there is other ones to that is more accurate

Yea i saw that italeri do a trailer and jeep combo so i assumed this trailer was the same thing but obviously its a bigger version.
