Loss of modelling mojo

You maybe noticed that i haven't been so active lately, just have a major loss of modelling mojo and haven't done any gluing in weeks :(
Sooner or later it will come back but till then i will just check in now and then, and the campaigns i'm in will not be finnished i think...

Glad to see you guys are still going strong with a lot of beautiful projects :good:

Happens to all of us Mats. You'll see something and say man I gotta try that.

I always grab something quick and easy to get it back, that's why I did with that armored Jeep I did a while back.

Can't force it.

The only thing that works for me is to buy something new, simple and cheap and make it a goal to build it OOB and over a weekend, beginning to finish. No research, no worrying about colors, etc.

Sci-fi, movie monsters like Godzilla, etc. or a 1/72 AC does the trick for me.

Grab a new kit, a bottle of Aquavit (yechhh) and plan on painting before the glue dries. (y)

Mats, give your modelling a rest, just build for a few hours each day, I prefer to build at night, paint by day - when the weather permits! hours away gets you wanting to sit down and get back into it - if you continually model you will feel jaded and get complacent with all things related, I'm sure you will get the need for modelling back real soon.

And have a few beers too!!!

cheers!

So far no Mojo returned, and no plastic in santas packages... i was not that bad this year! :)

finnished translating a couple of articles for Art of Modelling magazine but it was tough when you don´t feel so inspired about modelling.
Tomorrow i start some work in the house so i hope after that i get some inspiration back, just wanna finnish the CTA campaign so little to do on it... the other campaigns will not be finnished on time.
Good to see that there is a lot of you here posting progress of your nice builds88 (y)

Mats my friend, it happened to me too, actually right in the middle of it - give it time, take it easy and it's definitely coming back - I feel a nice tickle when I approach the bench already :rotf

Soldier on brother - your builds are amazing, looking forward to seeing so much more from ya :drinks

Dont worry Matts, it will come back. Read some books and I'll bet they get you thinking and doing again. In the meantime enjoy a break.

Mate Matts, I was in a kind of that too. But most part because of studing and work, make be out of workbench.
After a Open, rewied some friends the mojo it's back. Why don't you try out?

See you later.

Cheers

This is something I've been dealing w/ for at least a couple years. I find when I get very stressed, I cant model, and for the last couple of years I've been battling severe depression which has made it even worse.

I've found a little bit of mojo, but not what I used to have, and now I found that when I do actually find the motivation to work on something, it only comes in very short spurts of maybe 15 or 20 minutes at a time where I'll work on it then stop, and maybe come back a bit later and do a little bit more.

Can relate to that Adam, not happy with my work, it doesn´t give anything just pain, working in a cold hangar with poor lighting and no chance of any change in the work, same things every day, and my eyes are getting tired from the welding, and i have difficult focusing on small details (even have problems when measuring at work) well i´m getting older so i guess it´s just what you can expect...
Have so many ideas and kits i wanna build but i know myself better than to sit down trying to force something, it will just end up in the garbage.

Wish you all a Happy new year and i will keep on searching for my mojo :soldier

I can understand that. I agree about sitting down & trying to force it. I've done that a couple times, and the results, at best, are bad, and just disastrous at worst.

Been really having problems with my mojo the last 3 weeks too Matts. When Harley (my Border Collie) died suddenly on the 7th I couldn't even go in the room for the first couple of weeks. Finally I decided that the hobby room needed the rearrange that I had been thinking about for the last month or so.

Last weekend I sat down at the computer and created a layout of the room and all the tables and benches. Played through several layouts, started seeing some things that I liked and other things that I didn't. Saturday afternoon I started moving things aroun and saw some more possibilites. By late Sunday afternoon everything was moved, an extra table and little cabinet were moved in and WOW I had a LOT of space to move around! The old room was so cluttered and the new one is so organized that I WANT to be in there. Spent the last week cleaning all the benches and tables off and organizing.

Will try and get on to finishing my Stug maybe tomorrow. Have to try out the ne layout and see if it really works. Completely changing the room around removed the feel that my buddy was missing. Weird that there are still occasional noises that he would make in the house though.

Thing is it felt GOOD to just do something constructive.
